Maddie and Kyra came stumbling in the door laughing. They had stayed up all night drinking screwdrivers, and talking, from people in the inn, sharing their past with each other, then there was Kyra's mystery box. And in all honesty lost track of time. Maddie and Kyra went behind the counter, and started their daily routine. of getting the days orders and things together. She was finding it very hard not to fall out giggling."Now remember Kyra, when Dre comes up, just act normal." ~hiccup~

She tried to contain her laughter as she came in but couldn't. Kyra tucked the box under the counter and marked it with paper saying 'Kray porerpty'. She set off to work but found that everything looked at was blurry and heard what Maddie said. She stumbled to stand by Maddie and thought she was whispering but yelled it and slurred.

"How suppppossed to act normalll?"

She stood there and started to nod off to sleep leaning on Maddie.

Maddie was trying not to laugh. Mabe it wasn't a good idea t give her mixed drinks the day before work. Madeline grabbed a stool, and set Kyra on it. "Here, this should help. Just take a quick nap before Dre gets here."
Madeline started wondering if Dre would make good on that over the knee threat that he had made on the first day. Maddie decided it wasn't worth worrying about now and conitinued getting te front starightened up Even though she was feeling sleep herself.

[Beastie]

He had slept downstairs, in the shadows. So as such he came upstairs. his foot steps heard on the stone steps. He reached the door and opened it wide, sliding in. He saw Kyra and Maddie there and smiled. In a happy booming voice he spoke.

"Good Morning ladies. Good to know you to made it here. Are we ready to open?"

Madeline nudged Kyra, and smiled at Dre, and prayed her speech wasn't slurred."God morning Dre Yes I think we are. How are you on this fine day."

Soft snores could be heard coming from Kyra before she was nudged by Maddie. She jumps up quickly and falls off the stool yelling.

"I'm awake, I'm awake."

She lands on the ground with a thud and lays there in shock as the world spins.

"KYRA!!! Are you OK?" Maddie bends down real quick and picks Kyra up, and sets her back on the stool. She didn't dare look Dre in the eyes. Ever since SBR he always had a way of giving her a look that made her crnge, and confess if she had done anything.

She felt Maddie pick her up and place her back on the stool. She groaned a little and then looked at Maddie and whispered not completely aware that Dre is there.

"I don't feel so good. Maybe we shouldn't have had those screwdrivers."

She laid her head down and groaned a little more.

Maddie felt bad for letting Kyra dink all those drinks. She whispered to Kyra. "It will be OK, I'll see if Dre will let you go lie down in his office."

Kyra looked up when she heard Maddie mention Dre and looked around seeing him there. She gave him this pitiful look and wimpered.

"Hi...."

She laid her head back on the counter.

[Beastie]

He looked at both of them and growled.

"Madeline! Kyra! I hope I did not just hear that right. YOU two come to your first day on the job DRUNK!? What the hell were you two thinking? Where the.." He stopped then as he remembered seeing Maddie int he bar later.

"You you got it while in the bar that second time, didn't you?"

He shook his head, not believing this. His red orbs staring at both of them hard.

Maddie started getting nervous, she recognized that tone in Dre's voice. "Dre, it's not what you think...we were just having a little girl talk....and just lost tack of time...befire we knew it was morning.".

She hoped Dre would buy that.

[Beastie]

He looked at Maddie. Giving her that, 'Yeah Right' look.


"Madeline, do you think I was born yesterday? Or maybe you just think I am dumb? Is that it? I have one of you talking about screwdrivers and looks like she went all night with a bunch of dwarves. And you Maddie, you can barely stand, much less speak. So there needs to be some explaining to do before two people not only lose their jobs, but get my scaly foot across their arse. And Maddie, you still have something coming to you. Did you think I was kidding?

"Of all the," and with that he went of cursing in both Draconis and Drow, as well as a few others. To say he was a little pissed would have been an understatement.

Lifting her head tears were starting to well in her eyes as she looked to Dre.

"It is what you think...but I'm the one who found the makings for the drinks. Maddie was just trying to help me relax enough so I would open this box. And we did just lose track of time because when I was ready to open it Maddie realized it was morning and time for work."

Kyra got down as easily as she could without hurling everyone and grabbed the box from underneath the counter and sat it on the ground and then sat next to it. She looked up to Dre wondering what he would say or do.

[Madeline Cauthon]

"Alright Dre, calm down. I admit, we were up all night drinking. We were celebrating her birthday! I told Kyra where to find the stuff in the bar, and I made the drinks. If you're gonna take it out on any body take it out on me. And yes I know I have one coming, so just add this too my tab. Just could you please tell us what you can about this box first. See someone gave Kyra this box here along time ago, and told her not to open it, and she is real courious to why they said that. I though maybe you could give us a little insight." Maddie knew it was bound to happen adventually. And truthfully her actions of late have been a little bit on the carless side. But if anyone could help them Dre could.

[Beastie]

He looked at them both, stunned.

"You did all this for a box? Why not just ask for help?"

He crossed his arms as he looked at them, a slight smile as he looked at Kyra. "Happy Birthday by the way Kyra. Do not worry, Maddie just volunteered to take your birthday spankings."

He shot a wink so only Kyra would see it. Was he pissed? Oh yeah, and that was plain to see. But he was also trying to understand them.

[Madeline Cauthon]

"Duh Dre, why do you think we brought it with us." Maddie knew she was already in enough trouble, but she just couldn't help herself.

[Beastie]

"because you are drunk, and not thinking straight. And your hormones are way out of whack. THAT is why Maddie." He growled at her and stared at her with those red orbs, telling her she was pushing him a little to much.

[Madeline Cauthon]

Maddie recognized that look all too well. She had seen it before many years ago. It's amazing that even as you get older, that some things still make you feel like a kid. Maddie simply lowered her head. Yes Sir. But can you tell us anything about the box.

[Beastie]

"That depends if Kyra will show me her box. I might be able to find out something. But more then likely I can tell you this, if that box has not been able to opened for all this time. Then it must be waiting on something. So the question becomes, what is it waiting for?"

He looked from one to the other, "Now am I going to have to separate you two or can you two start to behave. You can not come to this job drunk. You are both better then that. You both have a good head on your shoulder, I hate to have to knock it off and look for replacements."

He looked from one to the other. "You are both docked one day's pay. Be expected to pay for what you took and you both will stay late to clean the entire forge. Top to bottom. Am I understood?"

He looked at them and then said, "And consider yourself both on probation."

[Guest]

Kyra just looked up at Dre and didn't say a word. She knew they deserved the punishment and she lifted the box up to him.

"I don't know if it will open or not because I haven't tried to open it. I was doing what I was told and didn't open it. Should I try to now?"

She waited for him to take the box but in the mean time had to ask.

"I'm not going to argue about the punishment but can I go get some sleep first?"

[Madeline Cauthon]

"Yes Sir, I already paid for the drinks anyway." Maddie left Kyra to show Dre the box, and grabbed a broom started sweeping. Anything to avoid what she had coming.

[Beastie]

"Maddie get your arse over here. You helped start this, so you might as well finish it."

He looked at Kyra, "now, let us see this box."

[Guest]

Nodding to Dre as she stands up and picks up the box. She holds it out to him. The box is a plain wooden box about the same size as a flower box and is nailed shut. If he inspects the box there is nothing out of the ordinary with it and does not appear to be tampered with.

He took the box and did examined it. He wondered why they were so worry about it. Handing back to Kyra all he said simply was. "Open it."

He stepped back, just in case. One never knows what is in mysterious boxes.
