His attention would be pulled from the man to the new woman that had approached. He of course would stay silent as she was speaking to her friends and not him. But as her gaze came to him, he would of course curl crimsons into a light smile and nod to her.

"Hello there."

She looked at him with a smile. "Hi, I'm Tasha. You're new around here I guess." She offered him her hand. She was looking for Casie, but she had a minute to make a new friend. She hadn't meant to interrupt his conversation with Dre. She was pretty sure that if it made Dre mad she would hear about it someday.

And as her hand was offered, so was it taken up. His own hand coming up to take hers in a firm, but gentle shake.

"Hi, I'm Derick. I just arrived. Miss Maddie and Dreconis here were just helping me settle in. Not sure how long I'll be here. but it might be for a short while."

That that is all she would get out of the shy man.

She mock pouted. "Pleasure Derick. Only a short time huh? That was what we thought when we got here too. But we've been here for something like 8 months now." She smiled then as she removed her hand from his.

Maddie giggled. "Yeah this place seems more like home everyday. To answer your question Tasha, last I saw her she was in the lounge."

He couldn't help but smirk and chuckle. With a simple shrug of his shoulder, he would return hand to his sides, thumbs being brought to pockets.

"We'll see. I don't really have any future plans right now. Sorta just going where the wind takes me as it were. Looking to start a new life, and this was the first place I came to. Never know."

He would look to the others around, making sure he wasn't being rude or anything.

Tasha turned to Maddie and smiled. "Thank you sweety." She looks at Derick. "Pleasure to meet you." Then she looked past him to Dre. "Bye Dre." She smiled again as she turned to go to the lounge.

She got to the door and looked in. "Hey Cas ..."

Kyra walked in the inn and seen her father standing near the front desk talking to someone she had never seen before, Maddie and the angry woman, she really didn't know who she was but remembered that she had yelled at her for voicing her opinion, which to her was wrong since they didn't know each other. She waited until that woman said her goodbyes and leave before she walked up next to her father and tugged on his taloned hand to let him know she was right there. The girl standing next to the dracon is a fairy who stands aproximately 3.5 feet tall and slender with long slightly curly brown hair left hanging down her back and bright blue eyes looking around at everyone. The new person may mistake her for being a young child given her height and young appearance. A mischevious grin crossed her lips as she spoke softly. A look crossed her face as if to say I didn't do it.

"Hello"

Derick would calmly just stand there, looking to those that he was nearly surrounded with now. A cocked smile remaining over lips. It had been so long since he was in an environment like this. Seemed he had some getting used to....again.

"It was my pleasure as well."

And then....another person! Blues would turn to look at the Fea that just came in. A warm nod of greeting sent her was as he made eye contact.

He looked at the man, but before he could say anything Tasha had come in. He let her have her say. As she turned to him he started, "Meant to ask you fur...." he stopped as she said bye and moved on past him. "Bye Tasha." He said.

Then he felt Kyra next to him. He reached down to give her a hug and a smile. "Hey you. What mischief have you been causing?"

He then looked at the man once more, "Not bad. But to me, words and what one does in the past means nothing. If you wish to try for the job, then step one is to find your way into the Fire of Hades itself." He stopped and looked at Maddie and Kyra, "Without help from the screwdriver sisters."

He nodded and turned to go. He looked at Kyra right fast, "Dinner with your old man tonight or you to busy?"

Maddie's eyes started bouncing when she saw Kyra. "Hey girl, how are ya."

She then looked at Dre with a pretend shocked look!! "What is that suppose to mean. By the way thanks for the advice Dre, I told Gawain."

Tasha hadn't entered the lounge so she turned and looked at Dre. "I'm sorry, whatcha need hon?" She saw Kyra and offered her a smile. She meant no ill will to the girl, she just hated people being disrespectful of their family members.

His head whipped around rather quickly, good thing there was that serpentine gene in him. He nodded to Tasha.

"It was nothing important. Was just going to ask how Willow was and if you have any luck with her or if you needed anything. See nothing of imprt."

He would stand there quietly. He was the stranger after all, no one really knew him, and he knew no one either. So, as others conversed, he would just stand quietly until he learned what he needed to know. However, when Dre said what he did, Derick would just sorta blink and look between him and Maddie. Not really sure how to take that. Was he joking.....or what? He had no clue.

And then, there was a bomb dropped. If anyone caught it, he would instantly turn to Maddie. Brows perked, a blank stare on his face. As if he was trying to register what she had just said. He was trying in his head to replay what was just said. But he wouldn't make a peep. Not with the other going about their own business. But......did she just say...Gawain?

She smiled. "That is important. And she's doing a tiny bit better, but not enough for my taste. I could use some help, If you get a chance." She was still going to ask Casie too, but the more the merrier, after all, Willow was family too.

That blank look of disbelief was still on his face. But as Maddie spoke, he would shake it off a bit. perhaps he heard wrong. Lips would move to a soft smile as he whispered back.

'Thank you very much. I wasn't sure what he meant."

"No problem, Why did you so shocked when I mentioned my father's name. Do you know the infamous Gawain Cauthon?"
Maddie said light hearted, she had met many people at this inn who knew her Dad.

And that face was back! But this time he knew for sure what was said. She just confirmed it. Eyes widen just a bit. His full attention turning to Maddie now. Face was a bit drained of color, and his words were stammered. He would have to clear his throat before he could talk steadily.

"G..Gawain Cauthon? He's....he's here? And...he's your Father?"

Brows remained arched as he questioned her words. he could not believe what she just said. Was his past that eager to get back at him?

Maddie laughed. She got that action alot when people found out her and Gawain were kin. "Yes he's here, along with his wife Airtia. And yes he is my father, not by Airtia of course, but umm well you can ask him. So how do you know my Dad?"

He was at a loss for words. He would just look to her as she spoke, relighting memories from the past with those names.

"I....I did know him. And Air? Wow...um....well...are they around a lot? I mean...it's fine just...I haven't seen them in a very long time and....Um....I knew them from a Guild I used to work in with them. We......I just know them from a while ago."

And that was as far as he was going to go. He was just stunned at what just happened. Perhaps a second thought as to if he really should stay here. Was it too soon?

Maddie gave Derrick a warm smile.
"LOL they are from time to time. Dad spends most of his time with Air or in the bar. Guild huh, man I bet you have some good stories. I hope you stick around for awhile I would love to hear some."
