[Robed On]

This time the one in deep blue spoke, the sound of a raging river exiting its mouth.

"You are Epiphany. Good. We are told to tell you the words Dirty Bird."

With that the others stepped up, forming a U around her and the other woman.

The one in black spoke next, its voice cold and devoid of any life.

"You know what we are here to do. Would you deny us the right to do such?"

The one in red spoke once more. "Be at ease brothers. What must be done will be done."

[Epiphany]

Dirty Bird. She had to think on those two words a moment for it to finally register and make sense. After a bit of time Epiphany sometimes tended to get forgetful, this happened because of all the things she had on her mind and all the people she came across. The she remembered.

"Oh! Oh yeah, okay." She scratched the back of her neck and looked around. "Sure, we could use the extra help. I don't think there's too much danger right now, but the place will be up sooner than you can blink an eye so, until then just be sure to not get in any of the men's way. I perimeter will work for now I s'pose." Not one for security.

"Any special needs you all have just, uh, let me know and I'll see what I can do."

[Robed]

"We need these," it handed her several stones of various colors, "to be buried in the center of th house. "We also need this bag of pebbles," if one looked inside there would be blacker then black fine grader pebbles almost like sand," to be spread on the inside perimeter of the house and to be worked into what ever you will be using for the roofing. After that it is simple. Take the day off."

Those red orbs stared at her. "You and this slip of the girl may attend, but that is it. Unless the daughter appears. No workers. No spectators. Understood?"

[Guest]

Kyra had wanted to see how her new home was coming along so she went out to the construction site to take a peek. She stood off to the side once she saw the robed figures standing there talking to Epiphany and Maddie but she couldn't hear what they were talking. She slowly circled to where she could come in to where everyone could see her. She didn't want to startle anyone because bad things happen to those who sneak up on people and she wasn't going out like that. Once she was close enough to where people could see her she just stood there listening and waiting.

[Epiphany]

Epiphany took the stones and the bag, listening to what she was told about how the items should be handled and nodded in understanding. "Got it. Well, I think you're in luck. The guys were just about to lay the foundation of the house." Meaning the concrete. How very fortunate that they came now. It would have been counterproductive if they had to break apart the freshly laid floor.

"We have all the things ready so.. if you give me a moment or ten, I can give this to the guys and they can set about the task before they leave?" It was here that she was a bit confused. Were these cloaked men going to finish the house, or did they mean for everyone to leave after the house was done?

Already she was motioning over to one of the other lead crewmen so she could explain about the stones and the rest.

Slip of a girl? Maddie knew they didn't mean her. But she maintained the same deamnor she had. She had also seen Kyra show up. and sent her a mental link. ~Hey Kyra. Do you know who these people are, and why they want to bury colorful rocks under your house?~

[Guest]

Kyra smiled to Maddie as she heard her in her head. She didn't know who these robed figures and simply shrugged at her. Kyra was curious though but kept her mouth shut and stood there listening and watching.

[Robed]

"We shall be done in twenty-four hours." Was all that was said now.

The figures moved out into a circle, encompassing all three ladies. As some passed Kyra their were mumbled words of "Daughter Darkmane." Each sounding totally different then the one before. As they moved, symbols began to glow on their robes and eyes glowed brighter.

Soon the robes seemed to sink into the flesh of the beings. As this happened the symbols glowed brighter and brighter. Soon the beings became the living embodiment of the elements they represented. Including those that were some of the elements combined. Standing in the true north, south, east and west were the avatars of Earth, Fire, Air, and Water. Also represented were Energy, Life/Angelic, Death/Shadow, Ice, and Metal.

Each began to hum and soon a chanting filled the air, almost like that of the Tibetan monks. It was definitely a sight to see, for as they chanted they seemed to grow. They were protecting against each of their elements, but also against the Gods themselves. When they were done this house would be impregnable to anyone not invited by the family that would live here.

[Epiphany]

These were good crewmen, when Epiphany gave the order for them to pack up their work and go they didn't question it. Having worked with her for years they knew that she wasn't trying to cut back their hours to save a few coins - there was a reason.

It didn't take them too long to gather everything and be off, some of them were even glad to have a day off so there were not any complaints. When she needed them back on the job, she knew where to find them. When they were gone Epiphany didn't actually leave the grounds, but she did move aside to the perimeter, making sure she wasn't in their way but staying in view. They said she could watch and it wasn't something she was going to turn down.

Maddie had watched the robed ones with crossed arms. She knew insantly what they were doing. She could have done the samething herself if someone had asked. She wondered if Dre had sent them

[Guest]

Kyra stood there and watched the robed ones get to work on whatever they were doing. She just felt the need to be there and even nodded as some of the addressed her. It felt as some of the robed ones were the ones compelling her to be there. She smiled a little as each of them passed her. Standing out of the way she watched and wondered.

[Robed]

The continued their work, each doing their own part to protect this dwelling from all manner of things and in all manner of ways. As they worked, their chanting grew. As they chanted, they also grew brighter in the element they represented. The sky above the construction sight would soon resemble the Northern Lights.

It was truly an awesome sight to see. Kyra and Maddie would feel a small part of thier energy taken. This was added to the many flows and threads they weaved to allow these two to enter the dwelling unharmed. They already had a small part of the others that they were told were allowed, and these were incorporated as well.

They began to tire after the twenty-fourth hour, but they remained where they were til they were done. Now at noon, they were completed. each elemental dropping off on cue to do their part. Now instead of nine avatars, there were the nine robed ones.

They marched back past the ladies, a Daughter Darkmane once more said to Kyra. To Pip one said simply. "It is finished. The rest is up to you."

With that the nine walked away, until suddenly they just seemed to vanish.

[Epiphany]

Fast forward to a few weeks after the Robed Ones made special fortifications to the ground, mortar and the frames and foundations of the Darkmane home.. .

Everything was done and Epiphany stood on the outside perimeter of the estate grounds, on the stage with the crew leaders, looking out a the work they had done. It had been a long time coming. Due to various designs, weather, implications of magic and all the other mundane things that go on, it had been delayed a time or two. IT didn’t’ get them down for they knew it would get done – not to mention Dre was rather flexible with the whole thing. He never came by and roared at them, telling them to hurry up by cracking a whip or anything. Really laid back. If only Epiphany had known about the lack of sleep their work was causing him.

Now, that they were done, they looked over the place as one of the men were sent to go tell Dre that the house was done.

(I present..the house! The rest is up to the owners imagination!)

European extravagance, dazzled with chateau style, makes this enormous manor home the epitome of luxury and charm. A dramatic display of windows and a glorious arched entrance beautify the exterior. Stately steps lead up the front porch to double doors which open inside to the spacious two-story foyer. A dramatic double staircase cascades into the foyer, which is flanked on either side by the formal dining room and study. The plan affords maximum entertainment with a bar complimenting all social areas. Straight ahead, the lofty two-story grand room is illuminated by a wall of windows at the rear. An enormous hearth warms the entire room and is flanked by built-in shelves. The cozy keeping room, warmed by second fireplace, is open to both the casual bayed breakfast room and the gourmet island kitchen. The large indoor pool is located nearby. The right wing of the main floor is almost entirely devoted to the master suite and sitting area, which provides a large mater bath with circular tub and see through shower. Upstairs, all of the family bedrooms feature their own private baths. The optional seventh bedroom can be converted to a home office and has a bath. Access to the second floor is made convenient because of private staircases on the east and west wings of the house.

In total there are 7 full bathrooms and 4 half-baths, 7 bedrooms in total with one being the master suite. There is the main floor, a basement – for recreational activities and an underground passage to the Forge – and a top floor.

He had come by just this once, after his daughter had told him the robed ones had made it. He knew he owed them greatly. He stood there and looked at the house. It was all he expected and more.

He stood there and just stared, then found Pip. Shaking the hand of each construction worker he could find and thanking them and asking them all to spread the word. This night drinks were on him, no matter the tavern.

He found Pip and waited for her to see him. He was in awe of her craftsmanship.

[Epiphany]

The men were in very good humor, it's the type of thing that happened after they completed a job - especially a large job like this one had been. In the midst of their revelry they made sure to shake hands with Dre and once word got around that they were to be treated to around of drinks, well, the raunchy merriment only got louder.

Epiphany was down there, somewhere, cheering with the rest of them (though she wasn't cheering about the drink part). As she took the hard hat off her head she stretched and gave a turn, that is when she saw Dre standing a bit off to the side.

"Dre!" Patting one of her men on the back she did a skip and was over to him in no time. She patted the hard hat back down on her head. "So, I gather you like the house? I thought stone would be a good choice. Harder to break, burn, scuff, stuff like that. You should see the inside." She chuckled. Yes, she liked her work.

[Guest]

Kyra was curious to see how the house was progressing so she went out the site. She saw her dad, Epiphany and the men cheering. Stunned she walked up beside her dad and took his taloned hand in hers and tugged just staring at the house that stood before her. In one of her most hyper voices she spoke her eyes wide as they could get.

"Dad.....does this mean we can move today, ppppppplllllleeeeeeeeaaaaaaasssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

She was just itching to get in there and look at everything especially her room and get out of the inn for some more obvious to her reasons. She started tugging on his hand as if trying to pull the answer out of him.

[Beastie]

He looked at Pip and nodded.

"Good choice and great job. easy to defend and all that. "

He was going to say more, but there was a tugging at his hand and, was his daughter actually whining?


He looked at Kyra and had to chuckle. She was acting like a kid in a toy store.

"Well Pip, seems someone besides me is anxious to see the inside. Why not a tour. Kyra, if you want to go check out your room you may. As long as Foreman Pip says it is alright."

[Guest]

Kyra jumped up and down and as soon as she said she could go check out the room she was gone. She didn't even hear him say as long as Pip said it was alright. She only stopped at the front door because she had no clue which room was her room so she looked back and yelled out to Epiphany.

"Which area is my room located in?"

A grin of a person that has just been given their dream was on her face at that moment as she danced and pranced around by the front door waiting to hear what she said.

[Epiphany]

He wanted her to give a tour? Did Epiphany even know how to give a tour? She most certainly did not! Even when she created her own rooms and scenes she never took a tour, simply went in and explored. Tour, explore, they were not the same in her book.

Kyra was a good - and very welcomed - distraction that prevented Epiphany from simply saying what came to her mind about giving a tour. Sometimes you needed to swallow words and re-evaluate what was about to come out of the mouth. Well, look at that, Kyra was excited about the new house as well!

Epiphany did a lot of work here and there (mostly there) and never expected people to even say anything about it. Therefore, when people did say something about the work, it made her smile and she looked from Dre to Kyra. "Ah Kyra, what fun is it if I tell you were it is? That's what exploring is all about!" She laughed and hooked her thumbs into the side pockets of her pants, it helped to prevent her from patting Dre on the arm. She didn't know him that well.

"You too Dre. I never really gave a tour before, and knowing me I'll skip over anything you think is important." Like the kitchen, bedrooms, offices, what she really liked was the tunnel from the house to the Forge. Something about being underground and all that.

"You'll enjoy it a lot more if you go about roaming and acquainting yourself with the molding without me."

[Guest]

Kyra was so excited to get in there she didn't even wait once Epiphany said in not so many words that she wouldn't show her which room was hers. She went in the front door and ran around like a kid in a toy store. She stopped in each room briefly before she headed up the stairs and after checking each room she found it. It seemed like for ever but she finally found her room. She just stood there and looked around in amazement. It was perfect just what she pictured. She went to the closet and looked and then laid on the bed to see how it felt. Laying there she really felt like she was in the clouds. She started thinking about the best way to get everything here from the inn but she wanted to move in here right away.

[Beastie]

He looked at Pip and chuckled.

"As you wish. Then we discuss what I owe you."

He reached out and pulled her along so he could ask questions about this and that. How this was built and material used. Of course he was curious, he was going to live here.

He nodded at this and that and let her tell him things at her own pace. Never really seeming to have a rhyme or reason where he went.

"No one disturbed the robed ones correct?"

[Epiphany]

And boy did she have a lot to say! Sometimes if a person got Epiphany talking about something she enjoyed, or had great interest in, she could go on, and on about it. Rambling without cause or much thought as to what she was doing. Habit really, or maybe it was just a passion - it could even be the fact that she had a tendency to ramble when she gets nervous. Talking about what she did would rate on the nerve scale. Either way, Dre was probably sure to get a good and healthy dose of it since he allowed her to talk about things and direct where they went.

Knowing Epiphany, Dre probably got a good story about how marble got its name and why people use in their homes. A story that started out with 'In the time of great battles and war' and somewhere in the middle went to 'blood was needed of a pure heart', with the story ending with the line 'and that is why the stone is called marble.'

Telling stories always helped her to calm down. She was a storyteller at heart.

"I watched them with great interest. The people you sent." She replied in response to his question about the Robed Ones. "And, as far as I could see, they were not bothered. Though I would like to know about those things they added to the mix. I suppose they were a type of element needed to help with what they were doing."

That is what she assumed for she didn't know of anything otherwise.
