She looks at V and nodded.

"Got it the heart leads to the safe place."

She followed V into the caves behind the waterfall.

If Cas were to look down she would see that they were walking on water. And it was as smooth as glass. The cave was dark. Venis held up her hand and pointed two fingers skyward. They ignited almost instantly. Once the cave was illuminated one could see that it was a great hall. A hall of memories. There were portraits of loved ones and friends and even acquaintances. There were also several doors along this hall. "Normally, all the memories you have of a person are behind the door that is marked by their picture. Don't worry, I won't open any door that doesn't feel like it has something bad behind it." They continued down the hall slowly.

She looked at all the pictures she saw the two doors with the pictures of the twins over them she touched the doors but didn't open them it would be to painful right now. They contiued walking.

Soon Venis would see a door where the picture was covered in a fog Cas stoped dead in her tracks and didn't move.

Venis stopped with her. She had smiled at the doors with the kids pictures upon them. She had seen some other doors as well and she walked past them slowly so she could get a feel for each room. But this room, where they stopped, there was more anger and rage than happiness in this room.

She touched the picture through the fog. She pulled her hand back just as quick as she touched the glass. "Casie, do you know who's door this is?" Venis didn't even want to open this door. But something told her that they were going in. She made a sweeping motion with her hand. Across the hall from his room was a door with a red heart carved into it. "First chance Cas. Before we even go in."

Cas was frozen in place but she woulden't take her eyes off the door, she was pale and beads of presperation were on her forehead.

"NO, I won't go back. V if I go back then it means I quit and I won't do that."

It had taken her a moment to find her voice, but she now moved closer to the door.

Venis nodded and reached for the door handle. Giving it a turn she pushed it open slowly. She knew that the first few memories would be lovely and pleasant. There were happy moments with him, Venis knew that. She might even see herself in there in one or two memories, might not. Either way, they were going in. She let Cas step in first.

Cas walked through the door taking a deep breath, this was not going to be plesent for her.

When she entered she felt the sun on her face and she was in a short sleaved summer dress. She was in a glade and she knew what was coming she was riding a white fillie her name was Wind Dancer.

She was there to train her and had been for the last two weeks every day getting her ready for the buyer.

This was different then anytime she saw it it was like she was living it but was also an observer.

All of sudden Dancer reared up and took off running being only two she was not going to stop for Cas, all she could do was hold on for dear life.

What she saw now that she had never seen before was a figure on a horse in the trees shoot Dancer in the rump with a pea shooter, she had always thought that it was a bee that spooked her.

The rider that had just spooked her horse came riding to her rescue, a handsom man with brown hair and a good build he came up beside them and pulled the reins tight slowing Dancer down.

Venis watched from beside Casie, she even put a hand on her shoulder for comfort. She had remembered hearing about how they had met, but she had no idea about the horse getting shot. This was news to them both. And Casie seemed to be getting rather angry. "Casie, let's move on. I don't want you to loose your temper." She had to keep her calm.

Venis wasn't keeping her too calm. She needed to get her past this memory. She made another sweeping motion with her hand and there was a cave off to their left in the side of the cliff. There was a heart shaped stone sitting in front of the cave opening like a pillow. "Casie, come on, let's go back to the waterfall, we can try again later, after you have processed this a little." Venis meant it. She would try again later. But for now, Casie desperately needed to process what had been found so far.

She closed her eyes and took deep cleansing breathes. It took a few minutes but she was calming down.

Venis gave her shoulder a squeeze. "Then lets move on. I want to see how much progress we can make before the world starts knocking on the door. You know how it is." She moved her hand to Casie's back and began to walk, which applied some pressure to Casie's back in hopes of getting her to move.

She took another deep breath and moved forward. Before long she stoped again and started shaking this was not anger this was fear she was pale as a sheet again and there was a huge shadowy figure coming towards them.

"It's not going to work."

There was an overwelming sence of evil the began filling the area.

"Please don't hurt me again."

"I will know where they are."

Venis stopped with her. She saw the figure and was starting to get a very upset stomach from Casie's fear. "Cas, I need you to calm down. Deacon, show yourself like the man you always claimed to be." She had a passing thought to just leave this room and seal it for eternity. But that wouldn't help Casie.

(Warning for language)

"Venis that is not Deacon."

"The little bitch is right I'm not Deacon and why should I show myself to a witch that wants to be a God, you can not protect her."

There was meniacle laughter that seemed to come from all over the cave as the figure stayed in the shadows.

"If I do not get what I want from the fucking bitch then I will just have to destroy her mind to find it, so far I have been nice."

Venis smiled, yes smiled. "Oh Cas, trust me, he might not be Deacon, but he is either of Deacon, or he's very close to Deacon. But the joke is on him." She addressed the beast of the shadows. "Casandra doesn't know where her children are."

A wicked grin spread across her lips. "And yes, I am a witch. Thank you for finding that information in here. Sila quenar natha ray d' ssussun, erase nindolen veldrin dal ussta ml'aen, Reveal nindel vel'bolen lurks rathrea, jous uns'aa vel'bol Usstan lac ulu ragar." And the shadows parted revealing the one who was addressing them.

She laughed as she spoke again. "And yes, I am a God." With the wave of her hand there was the sound of doors slamming and locks clicking. The sounds echoed for what seemed like an eternity. It was as if Casie's mind was going on lock down. Venis would unlock things again before they left. But for now this was what was needed.

She turned and looked at Casie, and what looked like the effects of heat began to grow around her. It was like a force field. Venis looked back to the dark one. "The Goddess of Protection and Fire to be exact." And with the word fire she burst into flames. She was consumed in the flames, but because this was Casie's subconscious and not reality, her clothes remained.

As she stood there burning she spoke again. "But you have forgotten one small detail, or maybe you haven't found it out yet. But I am also a vampire." And in the blink of an eye she was behind the thing that went bump in the night. She had his head tilted to the side and her arm wrapped around him, still burning. His head was being held at that angle by a burning hand upon his head.

"Which makes me even more deadly." And she sank her fangs into his neck only to remove them and let the fluid flow from his body. She didn't let go, she simply held him there letting her flames consume him while his life squirted from his veins.

Did she think that she was going to kill him this way, no. It was more to be a warning, one he would never forget. Because the longer she held him in here, the weaker he got in reality. She wanted him to remind Deacon just who they were messing with.

Cas stood there, she remembered this voice he had been hidden in her dreams for several years now, she always knew that Deacon had had a way of knowing where she was but had no idea he had been using a dream walker.

She was about to address him when her mind began to shut down and she just stood there in a catatonic state. She was not aware of the shield that formed around her or of the conversation that took place between the man and Venis.

When the shadows parted there was a man there in his mid forties, he was rather non discript, mousy brown hair and gray eyes he was about five six and skinny. A look of suprise came over his face and was gone in a moment. He was now mad that his prey's mind had become locked to him.

"You stupid bitch, do you honestly think you can keep her like this? It is only a matter of time before I get what I want. As to you being a vampier you think it matters to...."

His words stopped in his throught as Venis grabbed him the fire was painful but hen he felt her bite into his neck as his blood drained from him his physical body began to weaken.

"I will be back you can't defeat me this easy."

Then he was gone and Venis was left holding empty air.

Venis' arms dropped to her sides but for a moment. She held her arms wide then and she cackled. It wasn't a laugh or even a chuckle, it was a full blown cackle. Had anyone heard it they would have thought about a wicked witch. "Return if you dare." Was spoken out to no one in particular. This was a bit darker side of Venis than most were used to seeing. Perhaps that was why she was letting it out before she released Casie.

Her flames extinguished and she waved her hand in Casie's direction. The barrier around her was gone and with a second sweep of her hand the doors all unlocked again. Casie would snap back to reality like she had just woken from a very restful sleep. After all, her mind had been silent. She would probably feel a little worn down, but not sleepy.

Venis turned and looked at the cliff. The cave returned with the heart shaped rock. "Come on Casie. Let's get out of here for now. I know what we're up against. I need to get something and come back later. And no worries. He has no idea about the portals leading back to the falls. So come on, it's safe for now." Venis walked with her to the cave so they could leave.

Cassie looked drained, this was an experience she would never forget. She was back in the dress she had been wearing the day she had gone riding with the Marques, with the sweater he had lent her in place.

She went to the heart shapped stione with V and headed out.

Venis listened, that was important information to have for future reference. "Thank you for letting me know that. It will prove useful in the future." They were soon back at the waterfall and they stepped back up upon the rock. The waterfall closed behind them.

Venis took Casie's hand in hers. "Ok, Casie, time to leave this place. We need to get back. I know you don't want to return, but we have to. I want you to open your eyes and focus on the first thing you see."

As those words were spoken in Casie's subconscious Venis was also speaking them back in her room. She had removed her hands from Casie's temples and was now speaking to her in her ear. "Open your eyes Casie, look and tell me what you see." As soon as Casie would focus on something in Venis' room it would pull her back from the waterfalls and wake her back up to reality.

Cas followed her back out and to the falls, she was again feeling safe and peaceful.

She heard V's voice it sounded like it was coming from a distance she was telling her to wake up and she was right she didn't want to leave this place, but it was time to wake up.

She opened her eyes slowly and for a moment she saw the waterfalls and V's room. She was being told to focus on something and tell her what she saw. The room was coming into focus around her and her eyes locked onto a hat hanging by the door.

"I see a cowboy hat on a hook by the door."

She didn't feel tierd but she needed rest more like she had just worked all day and needed to relax.

Venis looked over and saw what Casie had focused on. There was a cowboy hat by the door, it was between her bedroom door and her desk. Benjamin's black cowboy hat. This made Venis silently chuckle. Of all the things to focus on. "Are you awake now Casie?"

She knew she was awake. "Come on Cas. Up and at em." She stood, not something she was fond of herself at the moment. But she was getting better. She helped Casie to her feet. "I think you should head back to your room, grab a good book and curl up on your bed sweety. You'll be safe, for a couple of nights. He's going to need to regroup and figure out something to get around me. He wasn't expecting me."

She walked her to the door, opening it for her. With each step she got her legs back more and should be able to get to her room just fine.

"Yes, I'm awake."

She stood to her feet fealing very drained it took her a moment to become steady.

"I think a good book and rest is just what I need. "

She followed her to the door and stopped long enough to give her a hug.

"Thank you."

She then went across the hall to her own door and let herself in closing it behind her. Going to her bookshelf she picked out a book from earth about Rosa Parks and curled up on her bed to read.

Venis returned Casie's hug and watched her as she went into her room and closed the door behind her. There was a lot more going on in Casie's mind than Venis had first thought. But things had gone well. It would be a few days before they could return. It sometimes takes time for a mind to recover from trespassers. Venis had been such. Even though Casie had let her in, she was still not supposed to be there. While they waited until it was safe to go back they could discuss things that she remembered and had discovered as well. But all that would wait until Casie enjoyed a restful nights sleep or two.

Venis kicked her diamond in front of the door and returned to her desk. She picked up her list of guests or her black tie dinner. She went over it one more time. Not everyone who was invited would show. She knew that. Especially if they knew the entire guest list. But Venis always believed in keeping her friends close and her enemies closer. And so she made sure she added the right names to the list. Not because she was looking for drama. In fact, she hoped the evening would be free of drama. But all of her friends and family were going to be invited, and a person or two who would be considered her enemy. Someone had to keep an eye on the enemies of the world.

She set her guest list down on her desk. She then picked up her gift list for Christmas, she went down the list to make sure that she had everyone covered. She had done some shopping the night she went out on her hunt. The gifts had recently been delivered to her room. She had gone through them already and made sure that everything had been delivered. Now all that was left to do was get them all wrapped.

Joseph went into Venis' room. She was sitting in one of her chairs enjoying the smell of some hot tea. He almost felt bad for interrupting her. But she had requested the interruption. He knocked on the open door. "Venis, you wanted to know when that package had been located. Do you want it brought here?" He waited for her answer.
