Maddie knew that would strike a nerve with Kyra, but ddn't think of the consequences. She backed off a few steps, and for some reason, went into the defensive stance that was the beginning of the kung-fu form. She was surprised at herself, it seemed like her body was remembering the training before her mind did. Grinning like a little devil, she held her hands up, palms out, thumbs curled inward, and dove in. She began deflecting blows left and right, increasing in speed, until an unseen strike from one of Kyra's wings caught her across the jaw. It knocked her on her arse, and she gasped, then started giggling. This was fun!

"You know Kyra, I think you are a natural, just like your mom."

She rubbed her jaw, it wasn't broke, but bleeding. She wiped the blood off, and just grinned at Krya

She lowered to the ground still a low growl coming from her. She listened to Maddie and even saw the blood. She was starting to fill up with rage and wanted to fight some more. So she tried a tactic that Maddie seemed to be using...prodding and poking.

"Come on wimp get up....we're not finished here."

She started to ready herself to make her attack. She felt like she was hunting her prey at the moment and didn't quite understand the feeling.

As Maddie saw Kyra getting lower she waited till her little feet touched the ground.

"Oh I know we're not finished."Maddie said with a grin that was remarkably like one she had seen Gawain give Dre in a spar many years ago.


She crouched up enough to extend her right leg, and pivoted on her left foot so when her right leg came around it knocked both of her little legs out from under her.

Kyra landed on her back and continued to fill with anger and rage as she stood and dove back into the fight going straight for Maddie with a vengence. She did her best to make sure each punch connect with some part of Maddie. She was driven as if she was born for this and loved to fight. She wondered momentarily if all fights were like this or if there were other ways of fighting. She pushed that out of her mind and kept herself in the now and concentrated on the fight.

Madeline could feel her own energy levels running down and tried to match Kyra blow for blow. But she did not have the quickness or reflexes that Kyra did. She found herself on the ground with Kyra on top of her beating the hell out of her. If she didn't know any better, she would swear she was sparring with Dre. She was trying to figure out a way to regain an advanatge but she didn't see any options.

Finally Madeline put her right arm up to block a punch to her face, and when the punch coonnected it broke Maddies arm.

Madeline let ought a scream at the pain. She managed to fold her legs up to where she could push Kyra off of her with her feet. Once Kyra was off of her, she managed to sit up. "Time out."

Maddie looked at her arm, and the ulna bone had snapped in two.

It hurt like hell, but she smiled at her best friend. "If it's ok with you, I think thats enough sparring for one day." She tried to stand up, but her body hurt too bad.

Kyra landed on her back from Maddie pushing her off with her feet. She laid there briefly before getting up to go back after her but she heard Maddie call for a time out. She started to ask why they were stopping when she saw Maddie looking at her arm. She began to step forward but chose not to because she didn't want to make things worse. She looked to Dre and spoke her words coming out on a growl as she was still full of rage.

"Is she going to be ok...what did I do?"

She stood there in a shadow and watched to see what Dre was going to do. The next thing Kyra knew her body began to tingle and go numb. She thought that was just a side affect of being in a rage but her vision started to fail her. She was watching the scene before her as if she were watching it from a very shaded area tinged with blue and her body began to sink into the shadow. Her body from the waist down was a shadow while the rest of her was a full form faerie with the exception of her eyes which began to glow like a bright blue fire. Not knowing what was going on she screamed out for help.

"What is happening to me?"

This scared her because she didn't know what she had done to cause this to happen to her or what she did to hurt Maddie so badly. She didn't have a choice but to stay where she was at until someone answered her.

He had been watching what was going on, noticing things like this and that. He did agree with Maddie that Kyra seemed a natural, but who would not after having a mother like she did.

He saw Maddie go down and seemed to be hurt. He was on his feet and heading towards her. Waving his hand at the growling Kyra. He never thought he heard her growl, he smirked that was the Arcadia part of her.

He then heard her scream and turned. His eyes went wide. It could not be. Shadows? Of all the things Shadows. He looked at Kyra and started talking calmly.

"Kyra. You have to calm down. I know it is frightening, but you have to calm down hunny. Maddie, help me. Get her calm. She is not ready for that yet. Not Yet."

He looked back at Kyra and spoke again. "Hun that is a gift from your father. It will come in handy in many ways, one day. Right now you have to calm down. You calm down you will come back to normal."

He kept talking to her calmly. He himself readying himself to go to his shadow form to drag her out of it. He knew she could get lost in there.

Madeline managed to get herself to a standing position. She looked over to Kyra in the shadows, and was amazed. Maddie smiled despite the pain, and started talking in a calm pleasent voice.

"Kyra sweetie, calm down everything is alright. What your experiencing is part of the drowl transfomation...I think. Just think of something, happy. You didn't do anything wrong. Highly impressive for your first spar. And the most fun I've had in ages. I'm fine, just a broke arm, and a few bumps and bruises. It's nothing I wasn't expecting. Close your eyes and think of something that makes you happy. We'll go back to the Inn, and rest a bit. I'll fix you some tea."

She walked over towards Dre. "Is she going to be OK?"

She hoped that confirming she was ok, would help.

Kyra heard Dre and Maddies words and did what she could to calm down but it didn't feel like it was working. She had some pent up aggression and felt the need to let it out but she tried harder she didn't like what was happening and definately didn't understand it. She tried to think happy thoughts and the only happy thoughts she could come up with was meeting Maddie and Dre and the others in the inn. Her breathing was heavy as if she were going to hyperventilate but it slowly started to calm down. She closed her eyes and thought of those happy thoughts and slowly she felt her body starting to become solid again. She opened her eyes and looked around her vision was returning to normal too. Once she was whole again she sat down and looked at Dre and Maddie. Her voice cracking a bit from being scared and her breathing still a little bit heavy she spoke to them.

"I'm sorry but can someone explain to me what that was and why me? You said this was a gift? How can this be a gift?"

She just stared at them and waited. She was sure there was going to be a huge explanation for things at some point but she doubted she was going to get them right then when she asked.

Maddie was trying to think of something else to help Kyra calm down. She saw Kyra returning to a solid form. Maddie cautiously wlalked over to Kyra, sat down beside her, and wrapped her good arm around Kyra and gave her a warm smile. She was glad to see her friend was cooling off. She was so proud of her. The spar had been the highlight of her week.

"It's ok Kyra everything is all right. As far as your questions. I have no idea. I do know one thing my friend. I can't wait till our next practice session. I also can't wait to see you with that staff. I do trust Dre, and if he says it's a gift then I trust him."

The pain in her arm was increasing. "Might I suggest we talk about this as we head back to the inn, if you're feeling like it Kyra. I need to get my dad....I mean Gawain to look at my arm and see if he can heal it."

Kyra listened to everything that Maddie said and it made sense to trust Dre. He never did anything to steer her wrong or harm her. She spoke softly.

"I do trust him. I'm not sure there should be a next time. Look at what I did this time."

Concerned for her friend she continued to calm down and stood up so they could go back to the inn. She waited for Maddie to get up before she started walking. She looked at Dre and walked over to him and floated up so she could whisper to him.

"I just want to say I'm sorry for my attitude today, for hurting Maddie and for bombarding you with so many questions. Maybe we can talk later?"

"Oh yes there will defintely be a next time Kyra. We both need the training, and the arm will be good as new, when I see Gawain. Don't apologize please,. I intentionaly provoked you to see what kind of strength you had, and I'm pleased with the reluts. Truth is if I had kept up with my own training over these past few years, this wouldn't have happened. Ask Dre I'm probably weaker now than I was when I was nine. So please don't feel bad, I had fun!!"

Maddie hoped that would be enough to reassure Kyra.

Listening to both of them, he knew that they were a good match. "It is a gift and you will see why later Kyra. I do suggest we head back, and Maddie you are only out of practice is all. Some things are a little sloppy." A mock scold in his voice.

"We will talk Kyra and you can ask me as many questions as you wish. Maddie what have I told you about provoking before you are ready. Just remember, it is a Dance and in this Dance you can pay the ultimate price. Your Life. But it can save it too."

He walked with the girls back to the inn and just chit chatted.

Maddie pretended to roll her eyes. She welcomed Dre's critque even if he did it mockingly.

" I know I know, don't provoke unless you know what your oppenent is going to do. I told you I was I was out of practice."

" By the way Dre I have a favor to ask. I was wondering if you could maybe make me a staff of my own. Nothing really special, but I would like to have one since I've never had one. Remember everyone in the Society thought I was too little.

"Anyway, I figure if Kyra and I are going to be training together, and you are going to teach her how to use that staff of Arcadia's maybe we could learn together. What do you think."

Kyra puffed up at the praise but also knew she had weaknesses and once they were discovered would be exploited. She would have to get them under control to be the best fighter...ummm Dancer as Dre called it that she could be. She wanted people to be proud of her and the recognition that she wasn't so little after all. She would continue training with Maddie as requested but would have to find a way to control her anger as it has some seriously bad side affects. She continued to walk with them and made idle chit chat until they got back to the inn to get Maddie's arm fixed. She really hoped that Maddie's dad didn't skin her alive for breaking her.
