Time Needed

After running for a little bit Kyra realized that she had run straight to the nearest lake. Stopping there she took a seat and finally the emotions that were built up go. Her brain was on complete overload and she was an emotional wreck. What was she going to do now she spent all that time mourning the loss of her "parents" just to find out that her parents weren't her parents. She continued to sit there and think about what she had learned today. She knew a little about the people who gave her life and had some interest in meeting them but wondered if they knew about her, looked for her, why they let her go in the first place....she had so many more questions and hoped that some day she would get the answers she would need. Maybe the ones she knew at the inn could help and guide her. They all seemed to know her mother.

He had followed the tracks of her heat. He was surprised she could run that fast and knew he had to file that away. He came upon a lake and looked for her. Ah! There she was. He moved enough to where she would hear him and he softly said her name. "Kyra? It is Dre. I came to check on you."

He moved to the edge of the lake and crouched there. Giving her enough space but letting her know he was there if she wanted to talk.

Kyra sat there quietly for some time sniffling every so often trying to get the tears under control before she spoke to him. Her eyes were red from crying but she had to know something. She finally looked up at him and asked a simple question.

"Why did she give me away?"

He thought that would be the first question. He sighs and nods, "I do not know. But knowing Arcadia the way I do, it had to be a good reason. Maybe she went off to look for your father. Or was called off to battle. Who knows? But maybe she came back and she found you gone.

"My mother told me she was asked to look for you. So that tells me Arcadia is looking for you too. Which means you can ask her a lot of questions, if you wish"

He held out an arm to hold her if she wished it,

Kyra got up and moved over to him and curled into his arm and began to cry again. She was feeling like an idiot for crying on him but it was better than her being alone right now. She sniffled as the tears rolled down her cheeks as she spoke.

"Is she nice?"

He would know who she was talking about and she would slowly start asking him question.

"Do you think she found my father and knows who he is? Why didn't she come here looking herself?"

So many more questions started going through her head and it was starting to get jumbled.

He nodded. "She is nice as can be hun. And as fierce a Dancer as I have ever seen. She is one you definitely want to keep on your good side. Hence why that staff was made for her. It was deadly in her hands."

"I think she went one way and my mother went another. That way you they had a better chance of finding you. I do not know if she found your father, but he is lucky man to have a daughter like you. Maybe you should go and learn the staff. Really make her proud and I think you would be a natural. Maybe have Maddie teach you the basics."

Kyra sat there for a bit longer and listened to what he said. She stood up and wiped the tears from her blue eyes and stared at him for a bit before taking a deep breath and letting it out. She put her hands on her hips as she spoke.

"Maybe one day soon I will get to meet both of them or at least her if she didn't find my father yet. After I learn the basics will you teach me how to use the staff the way she did?"

He chuckled. Now that he looked at her, he could see some of the same drive that Arcadia had. "I have a feeling you will see her sooner then you expect Kyra."

He had lite the spark to Dance in her, that was good. He had a hunch she would be a fast learner. "When you have the basics, yes I will teach you what I know of the staff. it is not much mind you, but what I know you will know."

She nodded and wondered where Maddie was right then and how long it would take her to learn the basics. She was wanting to learn how to use that staff she had a feeling from the way Sheena and Dre looked it at it was very special not just because they made it for her mother. She also wondered what traits she had that were her mothers. She let out a deep breathe and started pacing trying to think where she would look for Maddie at first.

"Any ideas where Maddie is right now? We need to get started."

Maddie had settled things up with Gawain and laid the order on Dre's desk. All of the days work had been completed. She tried to think of new things to do, and finally just couldn't take it any longer, and ran out the door.

Standing outside the forge she did something she hadn't she left the Society. She closed her eyes and cleared her mind and tried to sense where they were. She picked up Dre almost insantly. Then she picked up Kyra. Good, they were together, she thought. Madeline concetrated a little harder and sensed water. "The Lake!!!!!" She said out loud.

Madeline ran as fast as she could to the lake, and finally had Dre and Kyra in her sight. When she got there she grabbed Kyra and hugged her. "Are you OK?"

She then looked at Dre concerned. "Well, is everything ok?"

"Will please someone tell me what's going on."

Kyra jumped as Madeline ran up to her and hugged her. She returned the hugg and nodded to her.

"I am ok. Just needed some time to myself and we talked."

She looked to Dre and then back to Maddie.

"Can you show me how to do some basic fighting so I can protect myself?"

She waited as not so patiently for an answer.

[Madeline Cauthon]

Maddie thought for a minute. "Yeah sure, but it's been at least 7 years since I have sparred, so forgive me if I'm a little rusty."

Sorry Dre, but the nuns would not allow it."

"So what do you want to learn first?"

[Guest]

She stood there with her hands on her hips looking up at Maddie.

"Well we will be learning together then because I know nothing. So show me whatever you think is best for me to know first."

Maddie stood thinking, she felt kind of ashamed considering Gawain had taught her how to spar, and it would seem the basics had left her. That and the fact she was Acardia, and a Drowl's daughter, so she really didn't know all of her powers.

"I guess we could start with punches."

Madeline raised her fists in the classic defense form Gawain had taught her all those years ago and took a few steps back so she wouldn't actually hit Kyra. Her first punches were a right cross, followed by a left hook, then back to defense.

"See? Sort of easy. Now you try."

Kyra watched Maddie intently trying to figure out how she moved her hands. She took a deep breathe and mimicked her exactly moving her hands and arms in the same fashion.

"Like that?"

Maddie clapped with excitement. "Yes, thats perfect. For the first time she could see shades of Arcadia in Kyra.

Maddie saw two fairly young trees over Kyra's shoulder. She walked over to the trees, and took the defensive stance again. This time she took a few moments to channel all of her energy into her fist and did the right cross again. The tree broke in half.

"OK Kyra. Now I want you to go to the other tree, and try the riht cross again. This time I want you tro close your eyes, and think of something in your mind that makes you really really angry. Then try to focus all that energy into your fist and hit the tree."

She followed Maddie to the tree and closed her eyes recalling the incident with the men from the other forges talking rudely to her. She focused all of that anger and made it into a ball of energy and before she knew it she threw her fists out and hit the tree cracking it. She breathed deeply as she opened her eyes and looked at the tree and saw the crack and then looked to Maddie a little sheepishly not sure if she did something wrong.

Maddie nodded in approvement. Then she looked at Kyra's hand to make sure she hadn't hurt herself. Kyra's hands were fine.

"Very well done Kyra!!." Try again, using the same energy you used just then. This time try the second punch I showed you, it's called a left hook."

She took the same stance and focused all of that anger and energy and punched the tree with the left and right hook. This time the tree snapped and she stood there and looked at it amazed she could do something like that. She turned to where Dre had been sitting watching them and smiled. She was having fun and loved to learn things. She may not hav realized it but she had her mother's drive to learn new and more things. She looked up at Maddie again.

"What else is there? Maybe you could how me how to block then we can practice them on each other."

She nodded excitedly to her with a grin.

Maddie's jaw dropped when the tree snapped. She definetly had her mother's drive, and she had a feeling her father's strength. She saw Dre sitting there smiling, so she knew he approved. Teaching blocks would be easy, and sparring with Kyra did sound like fun. She was learning fast.

"Blocks are relatively easy. You just look for where the punch or kick is coming from. Most people sort of telegraph their strikes by twitching just before they move, so that's where you need to be to block."
She backed up again, went into her defensive stance, and grinned. "Okay, try to hit me."

She looked at her and then the tree and then back to her. She thought Maddie had lost her mind and told her so excitedly her wings began to flutter like when she is nervous.

"Are you crazy I can't hit you...I might hurt you."

Maddie, raised an eyebrow,and smiled.

"Oh come on Kyra it will be fun. If you don't believe me look at Dre, he'll approve. Besides if I get hurt. My foster father, Gawain has just arrived at the Inn, and he is a healer. So don't stress it...Not unless your...chicken!"

Krya was not a chicken and didn't need approval to whoop her butt. She focused that same energy and threw a right hook punch at Maddie trying to catch her off guard.

"I am not a chicken."

Maddie grinned as she saw Kyra draw back and raised her right forearm to block. When she felt the blow on hit arm it hurt like hell but, she loved it.

Maddie was feeling all her old training coming back. Truth was she needed this as much as Kyra did, all the anger she had towards her foster mother was leaving her.

"OK little one you're not a chicken."

A growl came from deep inside of Kyra as Maddie called her little one and she used her wings and tried to punch her in the head for the comment. She even tried to kick her with her feet. She didn't know why but she was full of rage at that given moment.
