Re: Orange Juice, Bad
Madeline stopped glaring at her father long enough to answer Titania. She didn't remember anything about a pet store trip being mentioned, but she did have her father's coin purse, and she had always wanted a pet. "Sure Titania I would love to go with you. Perhaps I could pick up a muzzle while we're there."
Maddie put her head back down on the table. She felt like crawling out of her skin. It was at that moment she promised herself that if she lived through this, she would never touch another flask again.
She looked at her father and in a sarcastic tone, "Are you done yet? I wanna go home. NOW!"

Gawain lifted one brow, fixing his daughter in a gaze that seemed to say mind your tongue, young lady. Upon hearing Titania's words, he chuckled. "Oh, a present for Xavier? Nice." He smiled before continuing. "A red chew toy with a bell? Heh, well, maybe he'd like that. Just steer clear of anything with feathers. Kid's got an allergy to some feathers...you know, like the ones in feather-dusters." He thought it was kind of funny, them speaking about the pet shop and chew toys. "Now myself, I'm more a rawhide kind of guy myself. Good for the teeth and jaw muscles." His own kind of joke added there for good measure.
"Now, Madeline, we need to get going in a bit. You've still to explain what manner of accident saw you walking around in a semi-lucid state of drunkenness. I also feel that I must point out that I am still your father, and not some stranger to be spoken to in such a manner. Mind your tone, young lady." His gaze to her was stern, but not hard. After all, he didn't want the poor girl to think she was about to be murdered or something. He knew there were folks who had seen her in this condition and would be asking some rather pointed questions, but, well, one thing at a time. As a wise woman once put it, you don't wait around for a fish to rot once you've decided to gut it.
He rose from his seat, holding a hand out to his daughter. "It was nice meeting you, Titania. You've made my son happy, and it seems as if you've also befriended my daughter. Thank you." He looked to Madeline then, waiting for her to rise from her seat.

Re: Orange Juice, Bad
Madeline knew the tone her father was using and the look he was giving her. It was enough of a reminder to tell her to quit while she was still ahead. The expression on her face changed from one of drunken rage to that of remorse. "Yes Sir, sorry Daddy."
When Gawain stood up and put his hand out for hers, she looked up and swallowed hard. She was trying to figure out why she was in such a hurry to leave knowing what she was going to get when he got her home. She placed her hand in his and stood up. She gave Titania a soft smile. "It's nice meeting you. Tell my brother I said hi."
Madeline concentrated on her shoes, as she waited for her father to lead her away.

She couldn't help but laugh, at Madeline saying that she wanted to buy a muzzle, because that gave Titania ideas as well. Someone liked to chat, and she wondered if the muzzle, but then again there her thoughts were drifting. She would give a nod. "If its okay with your dad, I can swing by the Inn, and get you for that?" A look was given to Gawain.
A grin, "I will keep that in mind, the boy is allergic to feathers." A small nod of her head, and another word. "I might have to get some rawhide for him too, just in case the squeaky toys don't last long." She had a feeling that they would not be good for any amount of time.
And then she smiled, "You guys have a good day! I just came in to get some papers. I will tell your brother hi from you Madeline." A nod of her head, and then she as in her office, leaving them to thier drinks and thier leaving and in peace.

He watched her leave, an unreadable look on his features. "Right, Madeline. Let's go. We will discuss things on the way. Besides, you need to come with me anyway. It's time for you to get packed. You're going to be staying with your buddy and older sister-slash-accomplice Kyra for a little while." He knew this wouldn't be a bad thing for Madeline, so he smiled. "Maybe while you're there you can work on getting rid of the hangover and becoming the first nine year old to be a chartered member of AA. I'm sure Bill W. will be proud." Sure, he was upset with her, but he wasn't going to smack her around for it. After all, what do people think he is. Human?
