If this happens to be in the wrong spot, would someone with Admin privileges move it? Thanks.
To borrow a phrase from the great Monty Python, "And now for something completely different."Anyone who is familiar with the work of Robert Jordan will, by now, know who this guy is. He is Mat, or to be more precise, Matrim Cauthon. No relation to the other Cauthons running around here, of course. I saw a rare opportunity, since I hadn't played in awhile, to try something completely different. Therefore, I decided to test out a theory. If anyone here has ever read a comic book, they will have, no doubt, run into a series from Marvel called "What If". In these books, the divergences of any timeline can be explored. Such as, for example, what if Don Blake had never gone to the cave in which he found his walking stick? Or, one of my favorites, what if the Hulk had killed Wolverine? It was massive. The Hulk hit Wolverine so hard he knocked a cervical vertebra out of alignment and severed his brain-stem.
Long-winded explanation, so I will cut to the chase. Mat here is an experiment. What if Matrim decided he had had enough of the crap that being bound to the Pattern as taveren...the short-hand of that is that a taveren is someone who affects the Pattern, causing it to bend to accomodate their success or failure, depending on what the Creator chooses best for the continuance of said Pattern. Anyway, I thought to myself hey, why not have him really stick to his own character and simply leave? This version had a falling out with Rand, culminating in their heated exchange of death-threats, and Mat's subsequent departure. So, here he is. I've never tried anything like this before, so if it doesn't work, I'll yank him out and just burn the character sheet. Otherwise, happy gaming, and let's see what happens next.
Oh, before I forget. If he says something in a strange language, he doesn't realize it. He reverts to the Old Tongue sometimes. If I forget to translate, hit me up for a translation.
