Ted Kennedy

Ted Kennedy Empty Ted Kennedy

Post by Om Kennedy Yajna Wed Aug 26, 2009 10:02 pm

"We've lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever," the Kennedy family said in a statement. "He loved this country and devoted his life to serving it."

it was Ted Kennedy who bore many of the tragedies of the family -- the violent deaths of four of his siblings, his son's battle with cancer, and the death of his nephew John F. Kennedy Jr. in a plane crash.

That part above is from an article. This is from me. In addition to being the patriarchal backbone of a family slammed constantly by death and tragedy this man was a US Senator since -1962-. Can you imagine? Over forty years of political service to his country in addition to being the voice everyone looked to when the Kennedy family took a hit…which if you haven’t noticed was a lot. This man had to have –balls of steel- and a love for his country and family that would still be standing even if a nuke hit it. He worked like a dog for family and country every damn day of his life. He was the kind of politician that was old school, Benjamin Franklin and Tom Jefferson style. Which means he wasn’t a perfect person who always made the best choices but god damn was he one hell of a man who believed in something bigger than himself and devoted his life to it.

A lot of people went numb hearing about the loss of Michael Jackson. I didn’t. I went numb today when I heard we lost a man like this who helped shape our country and survived a year after brain cancer just because he was so damn strong. Personally I believe he was the best of the Kennedys. And hell yeah I wonder what the Senate is going to be like without him.

Enough of my soap box. The other thing I wanted to say was that Samantha’s mun and myself obviously play Kennedys. I think everyone’s gotten that by now. What you might not know since it hasn’t come into play here much was that Uncle Teddy as they called him was a huge part of their lives. He was Toby’s mentor and a second father to him. So be understanding because Sam’s mun and I have to talk about what we’re going to do about this. Whether to go with the reality or to have them in an alternaverse situation where they’re lucky enough to still have Uncle Teddy in their lives.

Have some patience for us. And seriously no matter what your political affiliation have a moment of silence, respect, honor and so on for a man who seriously gave everything of himself to serve the United States.

Thanks.
