I like words and learning new words is something that can help to enhance our role-playing experience and 'broaden our horizons'. Therefore, I thought to implement 'The Word of the Day'. Check for new word (hopefully) everyday!


Celerity: (suh-LAIR-uh-tee), noun:
1. Rapidity of motion or action; quickness; swiftness.

The word of the day today seems fitting for a few reasons...

Dalliance (DAL-ee-uhns, DAL-yuhns) , noun:

1. Frivolous spending of time; dawdling.
2. Playful flirtation.

• 1. something that strongly attracts attention by its brilliance, interest, etc.: the cynosure of all eyes.
  
• 2. something serving for guidance or direction.

propitious (pruh-PISH-uhs) , adjective:

• 1. Presenting favorable circumstances or conditions.
  
• 2. Favorably inclined; gracious; benevolent.

Example: Her punishment was very propitious because she was sure her father was going to take away her license after she crashed the car; instead she was only grounded for few weeks.

furbelow: (FUR-buh-low) , noun:

• 1. A pleated or gathered flounce on a woman's garment; a ruffle.
  
• 2. Something showy or superfluous; a bit of showy ornamentation.

Example: The furbelow of the store display drew everyone's attention.

• 1. Inclined to keep silent; reserved; uncommunicative.

• 1. Someone who is skilled in table talk.

Example: Hedi was clearly a deipnosophist for she was able to keep light converstation going despite the tension in the air.

the act of belching; a belch.

example: "now hortence, the volume of that last eructation was quite inappropriate considering our current location!"

interlard \in-tuhr-LARD\, transitive verb:

To insert between; to mix or mingle; especially, to introduce something foreign or irrelevant into; as, "to interlard a conversation with oaths or allusions."

example: "to avoid having to tell the teacher that he lost his homework, gabe's reply was interlarded with compliments about the teacher's handwriting, her hair, and even her choice of frock."

however!

i totally say we steal this word and make it a slang noun. example...

"dude. don't be such an interlard."

See, this is so cool...I used to do those It Pays To Enrich Your Word Power deals in Reader's Digest, so new words are fun. And yes, we should steal interlard. Made me think of Grandma's biscuits when I saw the word, though. Who said Grandmother's had to cook healthy!

As for hugger-mugger, I woulda thought that was somebody that swiped hugs. "Dude, don't be a hugger-mugger, she was gonna hug me!" ^_^
