Just before the dawn

Go down

Just before the dawn Empty Just before the dawn

Cadmon walked up to the doorway of the Inn. He had been walking all night and was extreamly tired. His boots were made for riding, not walking, and his feet were sore. He looked down at his feet to see the pointed black leather boots with the embroidery on the uppers sticking out from under his tight, tattered and torn jeans. Back home they were called cowboy boots, here he had no idea. After all, he was a lot further from home than he had ever thought he would be. But he needed a new start, somewhere where no one knew who he was.

He stepped through the door and rubbed the tops of his boots along the back of his pant legs. He pulled the white t-shirt over his head and down over his torse putting his arms through at the same time, it would have been indecent of him to continue in shirtless. He pulled his backpack up over his left shoulder and walked over to the reception desk. While he waited for someone to come and help him he brushed his hands through his dark hair.

He was tired and desperately wanted a hot shower and some breakfast. And then a long nap. He had been robbed several hours back. They took his horse, his saddlebags, and the money he had in his wallet. Luckily he knew better than to carry all his cash in his wallet. Most of his money was in his socks. He figured he might be allowed to pay for his room tomorrow. He wasn't too sure he wanted to take his boots off in the lobby and then try to put them back on to go to his room.

He looked around and saw a few people sitting at the bar. He didn't want to disturb anyone, he was too tired for casual conversation anyway. So he waited, and tried to stay awake while he did.

He saw the woman walk up and offer help to the lady that was here before him. He smiled and quietly waited his turn. It seemed he had found what he was looking for. Somewhere where no one knew him and he could make a fresh start.
