Layout of the Lab

[Archer Caughey]

LOCATION:
The lab of Archer Caughey is located just over a mile south from the Tel'ranaemyn Inn in a strip of brick ranch homes, most of them serving the double purpose of business/abode.  Up the three stairs of his stoop, to the left of his door there was a sign, "Archer Caughey - Alchemist, Scientist, and All-around Genius.  In need of help?  Ring the bell."  And right under the sign?  The bell.  Hooked up to an intercom system he wired himself.

LAYOUT:
His place is one floor.  L shaped.  The front door opens into a sitting room to the left.  Couch, love seat, bookcase, coat rack, that kind of stuff.  To the left on the wall next to the door there's a full-length mirror.  One Arcadia installed, taking a page from Fallon's book to make it a portal to a couple choice places.  To the right, the coat closet and the hallway into the rest of the abode.  Overall Archer's place was neatly kept but kind of overrun with stuff.  You know.  Books.  Papers.  Gadgets.  Beakers.  Scotch.

Down the hall.  Library is the first door, that's usually closed.  Living room is the second door.  In it Archer's violin in a glass case.  A few framed photos.  A television, believe it or not.  And every season of Doctor Who on DVD - that was research, not choice.  A couch, coffee table, nice plush chair.  The hallway travels with a turn to the left.  

At the end of this second hallway is the kitchen.  First door on the right, his storage room[s].  The first room is walk in.  All shelves and cabinets.  With a working table in the middle that has more drawers.  All the space taken.  Everything labeled.  From the mundane to the hellishly rare.  A doorway in the back wall.  With a special lock that's hidden.  Inside that second room is the stuff that isn't for public touching.  And finished projects.  And several temperature controlled units.  Second door on the right is his smaller spare lab.  Third door on the right is his main lab.  All the major equipment in both labs Archer built.  Because he doesn't trust computer technology.  And he's a genius.  He can tabulate old school, and find ways to be just as innovative as any computer.  Or more innovative.

On the right, the first door is Archer's bedroom.  The second is a guest room.  The third is a rather special room.  The door to that one is different from all the rest.  Metal.  Reinforced.  Comes with a keypad to the right of the door.  A specially equipped fortress was inside that room.  Once that door was shut, whoever was inside would have no chance of getting out.  He'd built that room in case he ever felt the dragon coming on.

LOOK HIM UP:
Let's say Archer left a couple of his cards at the inn.  The front of his card is below.  On the back is the address.  Archer takes on cases of all kinds.  He likes challenges.  And students.  Can't hurt to give him a knock and see if he's the man for the job, right?
