She didn’t realize the wrong turn in direction until it was too late.

With a groan of complaint, the dragon banked right and halted on one of the darker clouds, clinging to it like a child hugging its teddy bear. The fact that she was -- once again -- lost on this wretched plane annoyed her. Twitching her wings, she decided it was best to check out the area and leapt from her lofty perch, gliding to the ground in a lazy fashion.

Living in the mountains for the past three years had been wonderful, but she thrived on the curiosity that her human self could never seem to get enough of. No matter how much she detatched herself from civilization, there was always something that lured her back.

When she was within a reasonable distance from the ground, the air shimmered and bare feet touched the soft expanse of grass. “Stupid .. snow .. clouds,” she grumbled and shook the last bit of snow out of her hair. Once she was sure all of the fluffy whiteness had been removed, she took a moment to adjust her clothing and strode into the Inne.

Hand rose so that eyes could adjust to the lighting of the room; it was amazing how differently she saw things when her reptilian eyes took longer to bleed into her human ones.

“Hello?”

Maddie was behind the front desk, when she heard someone enter the inn. "Hello, my name is Madeline, how may I help you?"

Well those two weren't the only one's who were there by the desk now. Roaming into that front area, was everyone's favorite person, Kyle! It was a new day out there, maybe it was a nice one, but you would have been hard pressed to know that based off of what it was he was wearing at the moment.

Oversized brown cargo pants, oversized brown hoodie. That was what he wore, surprisingly enough no beanie, but what could he say, he liked that black and bright green spotted hair, that he was sporting at the moment, but he was also getting a bit bored with it as well.

But that was another story for another day. Right now, he was looking for something to get into. He was thankful that there were people who could watch the twins at times like this, not to mention they were just put to sleep before he left. At least he was making it easy on the babysitters.

But now he overheard the brief conversation that was going on, and it caught his attention. The first voice he heard, it sounded familar, so familar. Which caused his attention to go to the two of them. A nod to who was behind the counter, but those brown eyes of his fell upon the other who was there, the one who's voice sounded so familar. And now words were spoke when he seen who it was, there was just that little boyish smile of his. Now how to get her attention...

Just as she was about ready to leave, Lana heard the echo of another voice and headed in that direction with a smile on her face. “I was just wondering if you had a room for a couple of nights?” she asked, palms pressing against the top of the counter when she finally reached. “I honestly don’t know how long I will be staying; it could be a while.”

The length of time she stayed at any one particular place depended on a variety of factors, many of which impacted her wants and needs. The first thing she would be looking for was a place to stash her collection of treasure, but that would come when she was sure no one would steal from her.

Just as she was about ready to open her mouth and ask something else, a familiar scent hit her nostrils. Head whipped left and right to find the source of it, but she had to turn a little to her right in order to catch sight of Kyle’s silhouette out of the corner of her eye. Holding up a finger to Madeline to let her know she would be right back, she bared her teeth at him in the form of a bright smile and all but tackled him to the floor.

“Kyle!”

Ohhhh he watched her coming right at him. And the only thing that went through his mind. "What's she about to do?" And now he was all but tackled, it was only then did that grin returned to his face. Wrapping his arms around her the best he could.

"Lana!"

A laugh leaving him now as he watched her. And then he got a bright idea, which as everyone knew, wasn't the best thing that would ever be thought of! Another laugh left him as he went ahead and fell onto the floor pulling her down with him.

"There ya go, you tackled me. How have you been."

He offered her a smile now as he slid out from under her and stood up, holding his hand out for her to help her up.

Lana could pack a punch if she wanted, but not as the fragile human she chose to spend most of her days in. The most she could do was wrap her arms around him and squeeze as tight as she could, but then they were falling backwards and she flailed her arms helplessly -- that wasn’t fair! “You know, I am going to get you on the floor one of these days with my own weight. Then you won’t have to let me tackle you.”

Grinning, she scooted enough to allow him up and took the offered hand, pulling herself upwards. Brushing off any dirt, lint or dust that may have accumulated on her dress, she allowed hands to drop on her hips and crinkled her nose at him. “I’ve been good. Spent the past year or so in the mountains up north; it’s cold up there and just the way I like it.”

Rearing her shoulders, she tilted her head and allowed arms to fold over her stomach, almost as if she were hugging herself. “I found this place by accident. Go figure, huh?” She was seriously starting to sound like a broken record with this `I found the place by accident` speech. It wasn’t her fault she couldn’t get her coordinates straight!

He watched her for a moment as she went about dusting herself off and all that good stuff, he figure'd he probably should too, but then again this was him after all. Good or bad this was him. Those hands of his now though found the front pocket of his hoodie and he smiled to her once more.

"Oh I know you will be able to one day, I have no doubt that you will get me on the floor on your own."

Another small laugh left him after that, followed by a nod of his head as brown eyes continued to watch him.

"You still owe me a trip up to those mountains, I still haven't forgotten about that too!"

Another laugh as he began to look around to see if she had anything at all with her, that would need carried.

"Wait go figure what? I'm confused..."

Yep think he still hadn't changed one bit? Anyways he kept looking around to see if she had anything, before those brown eyes went back to her.

"Lana, I didn't even know this place was here a week ago, puts us in the same boat..I think. Wait does it, I don't know if it does what do you think? So you have anything with you, I can carry it for you."

Another smile was flashed to her as he watched her.

And now it was her turn to stare at him like he had three heads, tentacles and an eye in the middle of his forehead. Had she really promised him a trip up the mountains? It was possible and very quite probably that she did, but the part where she stayed was off limits to everyone who had a fear of heights -- that was putting it mildly.

“If I owe you a trip up the mountains, then I’ll pay up one of these days. ”

Once a dragon made a promise, she was bound by oath to see it through. It was one of those quirks she couldn’t escape, no matter how far from Dysis she happened to be. At the mention of luggage, she looked around and shook her head. “I didn’t bring anything with me. I wasn’t expecting to end up here, so I didn’t think anything else was needed.”

If she did end up staying for a little while, she would have to either find a way to get her few belongings down from the mountains or portal her way between the two places. The first option was more likely to happen while the second was a little dangerous for her, mainly because it was the one thing she hadn’t figured out how to properly work.

It’s how she ended up here in the first place.

Oh hearing what she said about the trip up to the mountains, you would have thought that he was a kid in a candy store, or a kid you just got what he wanted so badly for christmas the way his face lit up on hearing that! In fact he had to let it register twice with him to make sure he heard it right.

"You will!!!"

And with that, his arms wrapped around her, to the point that he lifted her up in the air as he had her in his arms. Gee think he was glad to see her again? He looked up to her and just smiled that boyish smile of his as he finally set her back down on the ground.

"Ohhh, did i hear you say you didn't know how long you'd be staying? If that's the case, you can stay with me and the twins if you want."

Wait did he seriously just ask her that?

Lana tried very hard to keep a straight face when Kyle lit up like the traditional kid in a candy store; he was entirely too cute when he did that, not to mention it was down right goofy. Rubbing the palm of her hand against face, she hid her amusement for as long as possible before bursting into a fit of laughter. “Yeah, I will. Just make sure you don’t fall down, okay? There is only so far I can dive . . ”

Once she had recovered from the momentary lapse of childish behavior, she found herself picked up and hugged. Blinking, she reached down to pat his head and then reached behind to scratch at her neck in a nervous gesture. “No, I don’t know how long I will be staying. It really depends on a variety of things really.” When he mentioned staying with him, her eyes went wide and she shook her head just a little. “Awe. Kyle. That is really sweet, but last I checked, you have children, yeah?”

And they made her nervous.

He nodded his head once more and grinned before the look he got on his face, showing he was thinking about something. And yes he was thinking about something.

"Me fall? I won't fall! Plus plus even if I would, the ground doesn't hurt that much!"

Another grin as for the ground not hurting that much, yea bull. A bunch of bull right there, he might not have though it was that hard, but his collarbone said otherwise! But finally there was another nod of his head.

"Yea my twins. Aiden and Gavin, they are 18 months old now. They would love having you around. and so would I, be just like the old days again."

He nodded his head once more.

"So whatcha say?"

Yep his face was beaming really at the thought that she just might say yes!

Now she started to fidget when he mentioned that the twins would love to hang out with her. Lana hadn’t really been exposed to children before and the ones she did happen to come across were fussy and annoying. This didn’t mean that his would be that way, it just meant she wasn’t entirely sure if she wanted to hang around them -- not to mention they were breakable.

“Er .. uh .. children make me nervous, Kyle. They break easily and I don’t know how to act around them.” Did he notice the fact that she had been wringing her hands for the past several minutes?

Yea he noticed her hands, well had just noticed them as he was listening to what she was saying. So what did he do? He reached out his hands taking her hands and he just smiled.

"No reason to be nervous Lana. I'll be there with you. And I can teach you how to hold them, dress them, feed them also"

He offered a smile to her once more and brought her closer to him, just enough so he could whisper to her.

"I promise you, you will be fine around them."

Whispered loud enough only she could hear it

She continued to wring her hands for several long moments, even after he took them in his own. Very few things made her nervous, children being high on the list. At one point she had considered having one of her own, but that had been a long time ago and when she was draconic, not human. Hatchlings were easier to care for then human babies, so the decision was easier to make.

Crinkling her nose, she tilted her head to catch the whisper and sighed. He was serious, wasn’t he? It took another moment or two before she was finally ready to answer, though her voice cracked under the pressure. “I’ll give it a try, Kyle. I’m not making any promises because I’m not sure that I can keep them, but I’ll see what I can do.”

When she gave her answered he smiled softly, watching her still all she had to do was take one look at that smile, to see what that meant to him. He finally leaned to her once more, kissing her cheek softly.

"Thank you. I promise you will do well, I'll teach you everything that I can. Besides who knows, you may like them enough that you'll just want to stay. I wouldn't complain."

Yea she was always one of the few people he was able to be so comfortable with, you probably would have thought that there had been no time apart between the two of them the wya they were talking...maybe.

Arms dropped to her sides and she sighed with relief, not sure if what she had done was a good idea or not. There was only one way to find out, right? And that was jumping in with both feet, eyes wide open. The impact of the entire thing probably wouldn’t sink in for a couple of days, so he had a sort of reprive before she freaked out about what was going on.

“We’ll just take it one step at a time, okay?” Smiling just a little, she turned to Madeline -- of whom they both totally forgot about -- and bowed her head just enough in an apology. “I’ll still need a room, but don’t hesitate to give it to someone that needs it.”

Oh yea that was right, there was someone else here. When he reaized that he brought his hand to his face for a moment. And then looked to Madeline.

"Ohhh crap I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to.."

He looked between the two of them for a moment before stepping back some, but still staying by Lana's side.

"I'll umm...whenever your ready Lana, I'll show you up to where I'm staying at."

It was when he actually said that, that it all hit him that he had in fact told her she could live with him if she wanted. And that was met with his face turning a bright bright shade of red.

It was hard to miss the heat as it crept along her cheeks, turning her fair skin bright pink in color -- that’s what happened when she didn’t pay attention! Catching Kylie’s reaction, she shook her head and held up a hand. “It can wait, you know, a few days after you’ve let the realization sink in. We can always evaluate.”

The last thing she wanted to do was make him feel uncomfortable, so it was the main reason that she poised the question the way she did. Curious tilt of her head was given as she patiently waited to see what he thoughts were.

He shook his head a moment to answer her question, actually doing something that he never did, he looked to her with those red colored cheeks, actually looking at someone as he blushed. He would smile to her though and hold his hand out to her for when she was ready to head up.

"No, no no. realization already sank in, and hey honestly. Who says it's a bad thing you got me to blush like this."

It wasn't that he was uncomfortable with it, he was no where near being uncomfortable with it. In fact it was an idea that he rather actually liked a good deal.

Watching his face, she garned as much information as she could from the expression on it and finally nodded her head. “Just making sure. I’ll take the couch if you have one; no need to put yourself out. It wouldn’t be the first time.” Chuckling, she shook her head and clasped hands behind her back, rocking on the balls of her heels for a moment before saying anything else.

“Okay. Show me the way.”

He nodded his head once more as she spoke, and hearing the last part of it, it perked his head up now. A grin followed that now.

"After me, my beautiful. I'm up on the third floor. Though I'll warn you there's still stuff that is in the boxes, but you know me. Back in the alliance I don't think I ever fully unpacked."

He chuckled softly, he couldn't wait to see her with the twins, turning his head to begin walking he just smiled to himself. There was a thought in his head and that was a thought of thank you.
