Going to the site . . . Empty Going to the site . . .

(this takes place before Kyra leaves...)

It was another day working at the site where Dre's house was going to be built. Progress was coming along very nicely. Days before the demolition on the old building had started and today it was finally leveled and the men were busy taking away the debris and digging up the land. Epiphany was going on a lunch break. She didn't have to be there, but she liked working with the men. Currently she was headed to the forge to give Dre word on how things were going. Smudged hard hat, baggy pants held up by suspenders, white t-shirt, you'd think it was summer instead of winter, but she wasn't cold. She even had a heavy looking tool belt around her waist. Reaching the Forge she opened the door.

Not being in a very good mood about the whole father kissing another woman thing Kyra wasn't paying attention to where she was going when she walked out the door just as someone opened it. She did sort of remember her manners...well sort of.

"Excuse me..." Looking around and muttering to herself. "Now where in the world am I supposed to find this Epiphany." She stood outside thinking and trying to cool off a bit.

That happened to her a lot: opening doors to see another person there. Usually she ran into them, but not this time! She smiled at the young lady and even tipped that hard hat of her as she started into the forge. Then, of course, she heard what was said. Epiphany? That caused her to pause and, with a hand still on the door, she stepped back. "Hey there,” Giving her a bright smile. "Did you say that you were looking for Epiphany?"

She looked up as she was being spoken too. However her tone won't reflect her cooling off at all. "Yes...what's it to you?"

Letting go of the door she stepped fully out of the forge and stuffed her hands into the pockets of her jeans. "You don't hear many people with that name. Not something you forget." She made a face. "I could take you too her. Or I could take you to where I think she is. I think I have a pretty good idea of where she is anyway." Roundabout. "Whatcha need her for?"

She took a deep breathe since this person seemed willing to help her find Epiphany. She lays her hands flat so the papers were visible. "She is building a house for my father and I...ummm...have some ideas to go over with her about my room." She looked a little sheepish showing her plans like that.

Ohh blueprints, or plans anyway. This really got her excited and she leaned in closer to get a better look at the whole thing. "Seems like you have a pretty good idea of what you want." Scratching the side of her neck she tipped the hard hat on her hand and stepped back. "Come on. Come see the place for yourself and maybe we ca find this Epiphany person there. You know sometimes she dresses like a guy?"

Kyra looked at her and got a little excited about being able to see the site for herself. She could tell her dad about it later at dinner. But she looked at this woman curiously as she spoke. "Why would she dress like a guy?"

For the fun of it." and she grinned. She could always tell Dre about the spot later, or leave it for Kyra to tell. Right now Epiphany was having fun not being Epiphany. "Just like me. Get down and dirty with the guys. Sometimes they work with you better if they don't know you're a girl. Helps when you're not too big upfront. Know what I mean." She winked and laughed again. "That's right. Put on some baggy type of clothes and you're good to go! Have't you ever wanted to dress like a guy?"

She shook her head as they started off toward the site. She let the nice woman lead the way. "I guess I like being a girl to much to try dressing like a guy but I guess it could come in handy." Shrugs.

Getting closer to the site Krya could heard the sounds of construction. The banging and clanging, the sound of saws and knocking on wood. There was also the muffled sounds of the Foreman giving orders. What they saw was a large area. Despite the mounds of dirt there was also a frame work structure of the basement layer in a very large pit. "Well here it is! Not much to look at yet, but give these men time... Hello!" The last part was said with a wave to some of the men. If Kyra was listening, she'd here a couple of them yell back "Hey Pip!"

Going to the site . . . Empty Re: Going to the site . . .

She stood there and looked at the site in aww of it. But then something caught her attention when some men said hello to Pip and they seemed to be looking at the woman she was standing next too. Looking to her she got a curious look on her face. "Not to sound rude but are you Epiphany?"

"That's right!" She laughed a bit then and gave her a big smile as she offered out her had. "Epiphany, that's me! Looks like you found her. Sorry to have not said anything earlier. It was fun not being me for a change. Dre mentioned something about getting plans from you and Madeline for your rooms." she started over to a big board that was on the wire fence. All type of plans were there. Blue prints for construction.

Kyra stands there and stares at Epiphany and wonders why she didn't tell her who she was before but forgot about it all when she saw the blue prints for the site. "Is this all going to be our house?"

Epiphany was simply odd like that, she saw the humor in it. She was going to introduce herself when she 'found' herself. "It is!" she was delighted. Looking over the plans ad the drawings. "We talked about it for a while, though I took a few liberties. The place is going to be very fortifiable. I had to call in an expert type of person since I know next to nothing about it. Highest security I could get. Voice activation, body recognition, but all of it hidden so it's not easily seen. Rooms for the family and a few guest rooms, kitchens, dinning hall, work rooms, even an underground passage to the shop."

Kyra was just stunned about everything. When Dre went all out he went all out. She held out what she wanted for her room so it could be added to the wall when it was time to do her room. "I can't wait to move in here this is going to be wonderful. I've never been in a place with this much security." She kept looking from the plans to where the people were working her wings fluttering with excitement.

Just as happy as Kyra was, Epiphany hooked her thumbs in the tool belt. "I must say, this really was a type of challenge, but a good one. I've built a lot of things with my men there." She leaned towards Kyra like she was about tell a secret. "They're not really my men, but I use them all the time and so they might as well be." Bright smile and she held out her hand. "If you give them to me I can put it on the wall. Give the guys something to look at so they can start. Tel me a little about the room.. what you want it to be. I think we can do near anything. "

She giggled at her when she said the men were hers but not hers. Kyra was happy that Epiphany was just as excited as she was about this. She never had a place she could call home and she was happy she was going to get it now. She handed her the blue prints and started telling her about it. "I want a big room. A bench by the window so I can sit on it and look out. It's going to be a light blue." She stopped to think about it more before she continued but that was a start for her and maybe Epiphany had some more ideas.

Blue...bench by the window. Epiphany had taken a chalk pencil and made some notes on the side of the print. "Blue like the sky? Do you like to fly Kyra?" Yes, she had wings but you never know. She might be scared of heights? We could always give your room the impression that it was in the sky. "

Her eyes went wide as she thought about having a sky in her room "I think I'd like that. I can fly but I'm still getting used to being allowed to do use my wings." It was a long story that she might share some day.

So.. you'd like to sleep in the sky." To anyoe else that might have sounded odd, but to Pip the whole thing made perfectly good sense. "No problem there. We'll have to see about making your room near the back and up high. I can make it work though! Oohh Oh yes I can." She loved the impossible seeming task! They were great for she loved making things happen. "We can even get you sleeping on a cloud." More or less.

Her wings started fluttering like mad as she started jumping around getting loads of ideas. "My bed could be the cloud.....oh wait until I tell my dad about this."

"Exactly Kyra." she couldn't remember if Kyra had introduced herself earlier or not but "I've met Madeline already," starting to explain how she knew her. "So you had to be Kyra." that made sense, right? "You're easy to plan with. Not afraid to get dirty are you?"

Kyra nodded to her when she explained how she knew who she was. And yes it did make perfect sense to her. She answered her question. "No Im not afraid to get dirty. Have something in mind?"

"Awesome!" Right now they were only on the outskirts of the site, where it was 'clean'. Extra hats and belts were on the table for when the guys came to work and left work, along with goggles. Epiphany picked up a hard hat and a pair of goggles and handed them to Krya. "Put these things on and lets get down in the trenches. Oh.." she looked at what Kyra had on her feet.

She took the hat and goggles from Epiphany and saw that she looked at her feet. This caused Kyra to be a little self concious and looked down at her feet. "Is there something wrong with my feet?"

"Maybe... I can find you a pair of boots...Don't want anything to fall on your feet and break your foot." you'd think she was playing, but she said it like every day conversation, like there was nothing wrong with anything and she was serious. "We'll just invade the locker room." She laughed and motioned for Kyra to follow as she left the safety of the outside and started in the fenced area.

She followed behind Epiphany to the locker room with a slight giggle. "Why does this seem wrong to me?" To her it feels like she shouldn't be here and is waiting to get caught.

"Oh come on, it's just the men's locker room" yeah.. just the men's room.. and they were females. How was Pip to know that Dre might skin their hides for being in there but hey, he didn't have to know. The place looked empty and Epiphany went around testing out the lockers. "Don't worry. I'll have you dressing liek a guy in no time. Maybe I can give you my boots and I'll take the guys, if that makes you feel better." Though hers were guys too.

Shaking her head she stood back and watched as Epiphany tested out the lockers. "Won't they miss their stuff if I'm wearing it?" She thought it was a logical question.

"Well.. Well I'm sure they'll wonder where it's gone off too. " Truthfully? Epiphany didn't think too much on whether or not they would miss it because she always gave the things back. "But they'll get it back. Maybe the person won't be in today. Anyway! We won't worry about that." She chuckled and found an open locker. "Score!" She chuckled and found the boots, though they looke a bit large. She moved to a seat to take off her boots.

Kyra moved to where she had gone to sit down and take off her boots. "Why are you taking off your boots? Do they not fit you?"

“Imma give you mine. I think you'll be able to fit mine better than some ole guys. Though mine are guy boots too, These ones are bigger” She held up the pair she 'borrowed', "Here ya go.! We'll be all set."

She took the boots and sat down to put them on. She took off her shoes and set them to the side and slipping on the boots. After she tied them up she looked over to Epiphany with a grin. "Ok...am I all ready now?" She stood up and started looking down at herself and then to Epiphany to see if she had everything on correctly.

"Hard hat, goggles" She put hers on. "Let's rock and roll." She was excited about this. It wasn't often that she actually got to take someone down there with her! The guys were different, they were suppose to be there. Exiting out of the locker room, Epiphany even picked up a spare tool belt and offered it to Kyra. Since it was a spare it only had a hammer, wrench, and a screwdriver. Pip had a few extra things in hers, even a drill. Go figure. Once they steppe out, they were in the dirt. Some of it was a bit muddy but most of it hard packed. All around them the men were doing some work of some kind. Chopping and nailing wood, even welding and cutting metal.

And so, Epiphany took Kyra on a tour of the housing grounds. Being sure to put all their gear to good use.
