The arival
A very large black coach came roaring down the streets of New Haven. It was pulled by six black clydesdale horses. The coach was completely enclosed with dark green curtains drawn, so dark they were nearly black. The adornments to the coach were bright and shinny, and upon closer inspection one would find them to be made of pure yellow gold.
The two men who sat atop the coach were dressed in black blouses and knit trousers tucked into their black leather boots. Each had a black cloak drapped over the arm rests of thier bench. The man who held the reins was a tall human, over six feet tall. he was thick of build, like he spent a lot of time doing manual labor. He had plenty of strength for controling the six grand equines at the other end of his reins. He had short red hair upon his head but otherwise was absent of facial hair. He was well tanned and bore no visable markings or scars.
His companion was shorter of stature, about five foot four inches, rather well rounded and robust. He too was human, but with long dark greying hair. He had a long beard and a mustache, both slightly greyer than his hair. He rode upon the bench with his arms crossed over his chest. He sat up straight as if to imply he was taller than he was.
The luggage that was strapped to the top of the coach all looked very expensive. The leather was soft to the touch and very strong. It was well conditioned and shone brightly in the sunlight. It too was black and gold. The ropes that held it in place were braided silk of the same shade of green as the curtains.
The coach ballanced upon strong metal coils that kept it from bouncing too much as the wheels rolled over the stones and such on the roads. It gave the illusion that the coach was floating. In a fold down seat on the back of the coach was another man, also dressed in the same black garb as the other two men. He seemed to be leaned over slumbering. He had shoulder length blonde wavy hair, a golden tan, and he too looked very strong. He was six feet tall exactly, and slightly more slender of build than the man holding the reins.
The coach came to rest in front of the TelRanaemyn Inn. The man on the back of the coach sprang awake. The shorter man got up and climbed down from the coach. He checked the pocket of his trousers, patted the outside of the pocket and stepped through the doors of the Inn.
Once inside his mouth fell agape for a moment, he didn't expect such lovely work in a simple little Inn. He found a place to sit down and walked over taking a seat. He looked around the room surveying his surroundings. He was looking for someone specific.

Re: The arival
He had never seen an Inn that was so quiet before. He was begining to think that he was in the wrong location. He pulled the note from his pocket. Nope, he was in the right place. Perhaps he was early and she had not arived yet. Maybe she's in the rooms she had rented. But he had no idea where they would be.
He rose from his seat and started pacing. He was starting to worry what would happen if there were no rooms. So he gave in and went to the reception desk. "Excuse me, is there someone here who might be able to help me with something?"

Re: The arival
It's not that it was quiet, simply that many of them seemed to be nocturnal. She wasn't, but she had been running around the town doing odds and ends. Upon her arrival back to the inn she saw the coach parked outside.
Someone must be inside. About a block away, she picked up the pace, holding on to the bags straps. Epiphany gave a smile to the horses as she passed them. There was something strange here and it caused her to scratch the back of her neck.
Entering in she swung the dufflebag off her shoulders. "Sorry about the wait, I'm Epiphany. How can I help you?"
Re: The arival
"There is no worry Madame'. I simply need a message to be delivered to someone whom I hope has already taken rooms within this here lovely Inn." He handed her a piece of parchment with a simple crest upon it. "Could you tell Lt. DeChamp that the coach has arived and we await her instructions as to the location that we are to unload the ... cargo."
He wasn't quite sure if he was going to have to have the cargo unloaded in the daylight or not, he thought it best to do so after dark. He also wasn't sure if the Lt. was still wearing the ring and could be out and about at this hour or if she had taken it off and opted for a dark corner to rest in 'til night fall.
"Is this the only way in and out of the Inn?" He pointed to the door he had entered through. "We need to know for reasons of security."

Re: The arival
"It is," she stated simply as the bag was set down besides the desk and she reached out to take the paper. "Unless you jump out of a window." Trying to be funny.
"The only other door is the back door, but it can only be opened by the staff." A specialized lock or, 'ward', as she had been told. Normally she might not have given off such information but this time there was reason.
Looking at the paper she pulled out the registration book and flipper it open, running her finger down the page to find the rooms of DeChamp. Finding it, Epiphany tapped her finger on the spot. "She is here. If you will wait here I will go and deliver your message."
Re: The arival
On second thought, just as she was about to leave the desk, Epiphany was reminded of that odd feeling she had gotten when she passed that coach on the way in and it made her stop. Biting on her lower lip she looked to the side and then at the tall man.
"Im terribly sorry Sir, there is just one more thing."
The next question would not simply be asked because she was curious, but other reasons as well. "This cargo you have brought to the Inn, is it dangerous? You must understand that we have a responsibility to our patrons and if anything being brought here could cause them harm well, I don't know if that can be allowed without there being a good enough reason."
Now, she would wait.
Re: The arival
He smiled because of her window joke, it was quite amusing. "I assure you madame', it is of no danger to the patrons of your fine establishment. But you are more than welcome to join me out at the coach and inspect everything properly for yourself. We would take no offence to such a security measure. If you would like for another to join us as well, perhaps a male if it would make you feel more safe, we would allow that as well. In fact, if it is allowed we would like to post added security at all doors around the clock. And we ask that all who gaze upon our cargo speak to no one of what they see. It is very important that no one know who is within that coach."
He knew that he would later be commended for his attention to detail when it came to the security of his employer. He had already been told that security was a top priority. He was quite pleased with himself. And he loved the fact that this location was so carefull with their own security measures.
"If you need to send for someone to join us I will wait. Otherwise, would you care to join me and inspect our cargo? ... I'm sorry madame', by what should I address you?"

Re: The arival
Brushing her hands down the front of her jeans, head tipped up as she watched him while he spoke. If anything Epiphany looked like a hired-help in jeans and shirt that was slightly big. What she was thinking over was how it would look to have guards posted outside the Inns doors. What was in the carriage that required such measures?
"Armed guards stationed outside an establishment are sure to cause a potential guest to turn away," She said. "I will compromise with you on this matter if they can appear nonthreatening?" Wasn't asking that the guards abandon their duties, just that they do them in an inconspicuous way.
"My name is Epiphany and I would like to see this cargo. I do not need any assistance." One thing she did need was to keep a handle on herself. The longer she stayed and spoke to the man, and the more she thought about what was out there, the more apprehensive she felt. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea but she knew she could handle it.
Re: The arival
He was again smiling at this lovely lady, she seemed like such a wonderful person to be so helpfull. "They will simply look like other guest sitting around enjoying a conversation with each other. They are simply there to keep certain individuals out. A small number of specific beings. They will not even be noticably armed."
He stepped over to the door and held it for her even though it revolved. He bowed to her sweeping his hand towards the door as if to signal 'ladies first'. "Epiphany is a very lovely name. You may call me Manny. I am the head servant, I believe in some cultures I am refered to as a butler. I am the one who will be doing most of the errand running for Lt. DeChamp and her friends."
Following her out the door he escorted her to the coach. "This young lady would like to inspect our cargo." He pointed to the taller, red-headed man holding the reins. "This is Shamus." The red-head nodded to her and tied the reins to step down from the coach. Once down he bowed to her an stepped to the side.
The blonde man got down off the back of the coach. Again it was Manny who spoke. "This is Bo." He walked towards them and bowed to Epiphany as well before going over to stand near Shamus.
Manny walked to the door of the coach and knoked three knocks then took a step back. The door slowly and softly opened and there was a full curtain obscuring the inside just the same as the curtains over the windows. "We need it to stay as dark as possable inside the coach. But we will be able to provide you with enough artificial light to inspect the cargo within."
Another man stepped out of the coach. He was dressed in the same black garb as the others. He was five foot ten and had black hair that went down to his waist, it was slightly wavy and tied back at the nape of his neck. Manny intended to introduce everyone who was with them in order to make Epiphany more comfortable. "This is Kevin"
The next man to step out of the coach through the curtain was six foot three, he had very short blonde hair and was carrying a pillow with a black house cat sitting upon it. "This is Derek and Midnight" Derek bowed to her before walking over to join the others.
The next man to exit was a dark skinned man, five foot nine, his hair was shaved on the sides and short on top. He was the beefyest man yet. He had a leash in his hand, it was emerald in color and appeared to be very sturdy. Once he was on the ground he snapped his fingers and a large black panther stepped out of the coach. She walked to his side and sat down. "This is Isah and Leviathan. She is a harmless pet unless her master is in danger, I promise, you may even pet her if you wish. Midnight as well. If you would like for them to stay in the room it will be fine, but they are used to having free reign of there surroundings, if that is permissable." Isah bowed to Epiphany and joined the others.
Next came another red-haired man, six foot four with long wild locks of firey red hair. "This is Joseph." Joseph bowed and joined the others. Then came another blonde man, five foot eleven with hair down to the middle of his back and braided tight. "This is Andrew" He bowed and joined the others. And one last man stepped out, he was of hispanic oragin, he had short clean cut brown hair, six foot two, and oddly piercing green eyes. "And last but not least, this is Jorge." Jorge bowed and jopined the others.
So there standing before Ephiphany was a line of eight very large, very masculine men. They were all dressed the same, they all stood with their feet shoulder length apart with their hands behind their backs, except of course for Derek, who was still holding Midnight on her pillow.
"Now, where would you like to begin? Feel free to ask any questions of any of us and look in anything you feel the need to look in. We intend to keep no secrets from the employees of this Inn, it would do more harm than good for us to do so. After all, there could be misscomuications and lapses in security if there were secrets ... correct?"
((OOC: Bet you didn't think you were walking into this mess when you decided to be the one to answer the man at the desk huh? ))

Re: The arival
(All good for me! All in fun. )
Quite surprised that all those people came from within the carriage, Epiphany stayed quiet as she was introduced to each of the men. Staying her attention there for the moment. They all seemed well enough, nothing too odd about them on the surface. Then there were the panthers. Epiphany had seen cats - there was even an orange and black stripped one around somewhere - but not panthers.
Manny said they were friendly, and she had no reason to think that he would lie to her. Stepping past the men she moved to look into the carriage. On any other occasion she would have been bouncing with joy - she loved it when people gave her free reign to do what she wanted - but seeing the contents of the carriage prevented that. It confirmed what she thought.
Vampires.
The purple, the gold, the design of it all. Past memories came rising up to the surface and she hesitated. There even was a coffin. Her heart beat hard in her chest, right hand stretched forward towards the coffins lid but recoiled before touching it. She didn't want to look inside. Yet she did. Already she could feel her heart beating in her ears and her temperature rising. No doubt she might have looked strange to the men, and to Manny; simply standing there looking at the coffin.
Epiphany lowered her head and rubbed the side of her neck with her right hand. She needed a distraction and so she looked through the other contents of the carriage. Slowly. There was no rush. When she was done she backed out.
"Thank you Manny." she moved away from the carriage and positioned herself near Manny. "Your . . . cargo. How is food handled? How do you plan on acquiring it?"
Re: The arival
Manny spoke softly, almost a whisper. "The coffin with the S on it belongs to Lt. DeChamp. Right now it houses one of her friends, she is quite ill and needs around the clock attention. We are here with them to provide that. She is not vampire though. She is werepanther, Leviathan is her companion. The housecat Midnight, she belongs to the occupant of the other coffin, she is a witches familiar. She was once a witch who is being punished for her crimes, she cannot do any harm in the form of a cat. The werepanther, Lady Tasha Elizabeth Erin Masterson, she is a healer, when she herself is not ill that is."
He looked arond to make sure that there was no one who could hear him. If the wrong beings overheard him the repercussions could be astronomical. He hoped that what he was about to tell her was going to travel to no other ears save for the other employees of the Inn. After all it was the reason for all the added security. Why there was so much secrecy about his cargo.
"Now the woman in the coffin with a V upon it, she is vampire, and also quite ill. She has not taken a life in almost two hundred years for the purpose of food. Now, in self defence in battle she cannot claim the same. She mostly survives off of bloodwine. Type O, warm. She is not all that she appears to be, she is ... special. She was born a witch, she was turned when she was 21 years of age ... that was ... almost 311 years ago, shall be this month, the 28th to be exact. Aproximately two hundred years ago she went to the vampire council. Her sire was determined to end the human race. She needed a way to stop him, but for her to simply kill him would have been suicide. So they saught council with ... sorry, God, forgive us our beliefs. He offered her omnipotence, immortality, Godhood. She cannot take a life for food, she cannot harm others without there being good reason. She underwent a trial of 100 battles to prove herself worthy. They titled her the Goddess of Protection. When she used her power to defeat her sire, she burst into flames. She has since learned to harness the power of her fire. She was also given the title of Goddess of Fire. The woman lying in that coffin, shrouded in a dark cloak, is the Lady Venis Celestial Sanderson Crow Asgard Jordianthan, The Vampire Goddess of Fire and Protection, natural born witch, and one of the God's of Rhy'Din."

Re: The arival
Talk about having a lot to take in. A werepanther, witches familiar, a god of Rhydin? Now this was the stuff stories were made of, oh and the stories she could make off of that information alone. The story of this Rhydin god was only a bonus that left more to be desired. Her curiousity was peeked, and so was spirit.
God of Rhydin? Impossible! And a vampire at that.
It shouldn't be a surprise and she remembered reading lore about the various gods, but her teachings on them were different. What Manny had said left her with many different feelings.
"Our current supply on that particular wine is not plentiful, but I shall be sure to have some acquired right away." At least she didn't have to worry about people suddenly dissapearing. Venis. She remembered reading that name elsewhere.
"And what of the other? What are its dietary needs."
Re: The arival
Manny was glad that she seemed less scared. "Midnight only requires Special Kitty dried cat food in the blue bag, I believe we have plenty on hand, and one can of tuna a week, bumble bee. I believe that we didn't bring too many cans of that. We have a few though. Leviathan eats raw beef. Steak, lean hamburger and such. She is fed once a day. She hates having to find her own food and is very pampered. And Lady Masterson, she eats the same foods as others, only right now, while she is recouperating we have been putting her food in a blender so she can drink it. We have been giving her extra raw meet to help her heal. The Lt. also lives off of bloodwine. We have 20 cases with us. That should last a little while. As for the fresh blood we have been using to help restore the Goddess, we have been taking turns donating little bits at a time and mixing it with the blood of pigs and cows that were being slaughtered for purposes of food. So there is no reason to worry. I promise."
He looked to the other men and they started to pile back into the coach. "They will all wait here until we return with the Lt. If I may escort you back into the Inn? If you would like to hear more about the Goddess I would be happy to tell you anything you want to know. I have been with her for nearly my entire life, and my parents before me. My family has been in her service since my ancester was her nanny. So in a way, her life story is my family history."

Re: The arival
Listening, she was more at peace with the situation in knowing that they had brought their own supplies. At least to last them for a little bit. While she might not be a full supporter of what the creatures were, she wanted to make the guest at the Inn comfortable.
Moving away from the carriage Epiphany folded her hands in front of her, heading to the Inn and up the front steps. Now that this security measure was over it was time to inform the Lieutenant that her guest had arrived.
"I am, slightly confused. I have always read about the, the," she could say it. Epiphany let her eyes closed briefly, working to keep any hint of discontent from her voice. "The gods and goddesses of Rhydin. But I never thought of them to be true. Simply something part of a story, or a legend."
Up the steps and towards the back of the Inn. She walked in a steady pace, no need to rush. Besides, this was a good speed for conversation.
"Vampire Goddess. So she is the God of Rhydin's Vampires?"
Re: The arival
Manny walked with her, matching her pace. It was a good pace for him, he liked slower walking speeds. "No ma'am, she is Rhy'Din's Goddess of Fire. I have the scroll that contains the list." He pulled the slender scroll from the waist of his trousers behind his back. "I carried it with me just in case I needed it for somehing." He handed it to her with a smile.

"It is just a coincidence that she was a vampire before she became a Goddess. I feel that once she is healed and back on her feet, able to meet with others, you will find that you and she will become fast friends. She seems to find friends everywhere she goes." He was hopefull that it would be a short recouperation time, he hated seeing her like this.
"She has not always been on her best behaver, she once gave in to her vampire lusts. But when she realized that the human race was in danger of extinction, she had to join the side of right. After all, how would vampires survive without humans? Who would feed them, who would take care of their homes and bodies and things durring the day time? Vampires need humans to survive, she knew this, that is why she nearly died trying to become a Goddess and defeat her sire. To save the human race."
He was enjoying this chat time, it was nice to talk to someone who didn't already know all of this and who was interested ... or at least seemed to be interested. Manny thought that maybe he himself had found a friend.
"Oh, and speaking of day time ... Because she is an omnipotent Goddess, the usual things that would normaly kill a vampire only serve to make her sick.
She walkes in the day time amungst others, she just wears a very strong sun screen. Also, a wooden stake through the heart would just wound her, she would require the same types of treatment that say a human would need for a knife wound to the hip. Re: The arival
Epiphany started looking at the list - of course this made her slow down even more. Though very skilled at being able to read and walk, she could navigate a busy marketplace with her nose in a book, she wanted to examine the list.
A few names down she stopped, hearing what Manny had said. The deal of how Vampires needed humans. "Yes. When you think about it like that, you're right." Looking at him, the list forgotten for the small moment. "But it's when the Vampires take the lives of others, drinking their fill and more just because they can, that, I don't like."
"I know that not all Vampires are beast." Her tone dropped and somewhere in all of this her walking had stopped completely.
"He wasn't." Having drifted off into a thought she rubbed the side of her neck. Right side. "Oh hey, I know her!" Epiphany suddenly became vividly aware that she had drifted into a thought and turned to the list. The name she pointed at was that of Azlin Zoi. "That's my Aunt. Not by blood though." had to add that part in.
"Oh and that's my Foster dad! I didn't know he was a god." Her finger pointed to Gawain's name on the scroll. This was all too surreal for her. "Though that.. might explain a few things...." There seemed to be a lot about her Foster parents that she didn't know. If Venis knew them.. then maybe she knew other things as well. "Could I get a copy of this?"
Re: The arival
"'Tis yours M'Lady, although, if it is Lord Cauthon of whom you speak, last I heard he had renounced his Godhood. And he and the Goddess were once the very best of friends. She mentioned him several times in her ... sleep ramblings. She misses him terribly. She has mentioned a few others as well, but Lord Cauthon a lot."
He was happy to see her taking such an interest. He was happy to have someone to talk with rather than talk to.

Unfortunately for Manny, Epiphany loved to read - especially if the information were interesting. This was interesting.
"It sounds like something he would do," said as she began to roll up the document and started to walk once again. "But what about you? How'd you get to be in service of Venis? Did she choose you or did you choose her?" Or maybe it was something he was born into?
Back into the Inn, she took note of sounds she had not the first time around. Were people at the bar?
Re: The arival
"I was born into her employ. But I have never held a grudge in that regard. She has never once treated me as an employee ... well, save for pay of course. But that is far above what others of my station recieve. But I also room in the main castle, I attend family gatherings as a family member, my families portraits hang in the main castle hall along with her family and friends, I am the God-father of her only natural born son, I get invited to the house she shares ... shared with her husband and children for hollidays, I have a free lifetime pass and tab at her night club, so I don't really feel like an employee. More like a family member who bends over backwards for her and she is always giving money to."
He chuckled. He noticed how much she liked to read. He smiled because he had so many stories, and he loved to write as well as tell stories. This gave him a wonderful idea.
"Lady Epiphany ... If I were to write down some of my stories of Venis and her family and friends, would you like to read them? She once told me that I could write a book about her if it ever became something I would like to do."
He was quite pleased with himself for his idea. He had enough information through diaries and journals, not to mention personal knowledge, for three books easy.

Re: The arival
Bo came running into the Inn at a full run looking for Manny. He stopped once inside and looked around in amazement. It was so lovely inside. He quickly returned his attention to the task at hand though. He began looking around for Manny, he had to tell him about the coach.
Once he spotted the two walking side by side having a quiet conversation he ran to them. Out of breath he spoke in broken sentences. "Manny ... coach ... outside ... matching ... same ..." He caught his breath and blurted his sentence out rapidly. "Manny, Lord Jordianthan has arived in the other coach, he is here and he has seen the coach."
Manny's eyes shot open wide. He had not seen Kahn in a long time, he felt bad for that given he had always been like one of the family. But after her disapearance Kahn had slowly become very angry with the world. Manny had no excuse though. Now it was time to face the music.
"Thank you Bo. Lady Epiphany, if you will excuse me, I fear I have something to attend to outside. If you could please find the Lt.? Forgive me, we will most definately return to our conversation at a later time." He wanted to add 'if I survive this night' but no reason to scare her.
Manny kissed the back of Epiphany's hand and turned on his heels. "Come now Bo, we have to face him now or pay worse later." And they both headed back out to the coach.

While they were waiting for Epiphany or the Lt. Manny saw Midnight return from within the Inn. He opened the door to the coach and let her in. "Bo, I need you to do something for me while we wait. Can I ask you to run into the Inn for a moment and get a message to Lord Jordianthan?"
Bo reluctently walked over to Manny to await his instructions. Once he had them away he went ...

Re: The arival
(Since people are still outside in this post.. and Vesta and Nephalei are approaching the Inn.. I figured this would fit here? )
Vesta wasn't a superwoman and she honestly didn't have the slightest clue as to how much weight she could lift. Average amount. Too bad she didn't gain something extra when she arrived in this world.
Now she was helping Nephalei to walk. "Say nothing of it. Like I said, it's not too far. And I'd rather be away from this mod." Less they start implication them in the whole mess. The whole 'wrong place, wrong time' thing.
As they were getting closer - day passing onward - she saw a couple carriages outside the Inn.
"Now those were not there when I left this morning."

((Tis fine, gives me something to do.))
Manny saw the two aproaching the Inn, he saw the centaur leaning on the smaller being, apparently injured. He ran up to them.
"What happened? We can help, let us first get her inside. Shamus, Isah, please come help this young lady into the Inn and set her down by the fireplace."
Manny hoped they would let her in, he knew they wanted horses in the stables, but she wasn't really a horse, was she. He climbed up to the top of the coach and grabbed Lady Tasha's medical bag while Shamus and Isah lifted the lady to carry her into the Inn.
He turned to her friend and smiled. "Joining us?" They took her into the Inn without even discussing it with the employees of the Inn. They could argue about it later.
Shamus and Isah set her down gently. Manny got into the bag and pulled out a little silver pouch. He broke the contents of the pouch and shook it. It began to heat up all on its own. He then tore the pouch open and handed it to her. "Here my dear, drink this, it has a mild pain killer in it, think of it as hot tea ... plus. I will get one of our employers to heal you ... unless you would prefer a more natural healing?"

Re: The arival
Nephalei was a bit overwhelmed by all of the attention. She hadn't expected it, to say the very least. She'd figured she'd check in, get some rest, then maybe seek out a doctor tomorrow.
But if someone wanted to help her right there and then, it was probably in her best interest to let them.
"Here my dear, drink this, it has a mild pain
killer in it, think of it as hot tea ... plus. I will get one of our
employers to heal you ... unless you would prefer a more natural
healing?"
Nephalei took the pouch and eyed it. She assumed it was magic, since this seemed like the kind of place where magic would run amok (like in fairytales... what a pleasant thought). Or perhaps it was just very scientifically advanced - not quite as exciting as magic, but impressive nonetheless. Either way, it was unlike anything she'd ever seen before. It was fascinating and a little frightening, but this was her Great Adventure and what Great Adventure didn't include trying possibly risky new things?
So she drank the... "tea". Instantly, she began to feel a bit better.
"Very amazing..." she murmured, looking into the empty pouch, then looked up as she remembered that she'd been asked a question. This time, there was no hesitation. "Natural healing"...? Pfft. She was far past that now, she thought, feeling terribly brave and terribly proud of her brave-ness. "No," she said. "I don't want natural healing." She added, after a momentary pause, "Thank you. Truly. It's very kind of you."

Re: The arival
"Forgive me my rudeness everyone. Lord Cauthon, prehaps we can pick this up later." She rose from her seat and began to head for the door. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Bo standing there talking to someone ... to ... Lord Jordianthan! "Oh great, now I'm truly in trouble." Hopefully she was wrong having only seen him in a portrait that her friend carried with her.
One problem at a time, after all, she was only one person. She continued to the door and saw Manny, Shamus, and Isah over by the fireplace tending to a centaur with another woman there with them. "My word, I take time out of my day for a nice conversation with a gentleman and the entire world goes to Hades in a hand basket."
Manny it was then. "Manny, what is going on around here? I get here and find Lord Cauthon, I'm already in trouble. You get here and a young lady comes to me with this ominous message that I am needed outside. I head outside and find you guys in here with an injured lady. And is that who I think it is? Because if it is than I am definately going to get my arse kicked now."
