What exactly is PG-13?
With the deeper involvement of post and SL combination's the question of "is this within the ratings?" arises. The rules of Tel'Ranaemyn state that all post should abide within the boundaries of PG-13; the trouble comes in deciphering what meets the rating, and what goes above.
To help , this short list has been complied.
Explaining PG-13
- Shirtless men are allowed in G-rated films, while topless women earn at least a PG-13 automatically, unless depicted to in a sexual nature, or it is more than brief, then it is R. For example:
PG-13 "Laura's top was very low cut and when she leaned over her breast popped out of the shirt."
R- "Samson ran his hands over Maria's breast after her freed them of the bra's restraint."
If a film contains male rear nudity, it is more likely to be given a lower rating than if the nudity were female. Male nudity is generally regarded as ribald (i.e. mooning) or natural, while female nudity is generally regarded as sexual. Sexuality is left to a minimum with scenes of intercourse blurred or viewed from the shoulders up. - Violence which includes bloodshed will usually receive a PG-13 or R rating. Bloodless violence will usually be rated PG or PG-13. Ironically, it is alright for you to preform genocide as long as there is no blood.
- A graphic or explicit scene of illegal drug use will earn a film at least a PG-13 rating. A reference to drugs, such as marijuana, usually gets a movie a PG-13 rating at a minimum.
- If a film uses "one of the harsher sexually derived words" (such as f***) one to four times, it is routine to receive a PG-13 rating, provided that the word is used as an expletive and not with a sexual meaning which would advance the rating to 'R'.
With this notation it is hoped that you, the players, will have a better understanding of the PG-13 rating on the board and there can be play without worries.
