Friday night

It was the first night of the full moon and Alyan Calanon was feeling gun-ho and ready to go! Where was he going? Back home of course! To Genisis! He had told his brother that he was going to go back, and had been told that the portal opened on the full moon. Therefore, he tinkered about the Inn, messing in the garden, staying away from De'Ryanna, and taking sport in town all until the day came that he figured he'd go back home!

Sure, too, you know, he had looked around for all these 'others' who were going to help Armandeus go back, but he was under the impression that he was rather set on staying here and not going back. No matter to him, Alyan would do it on his own! (Ah the hearts and minds of the young.)

However, he had never asked if there was a trick to going back, or if he'd simply see some type of portal and walk right through. So, what happened? Friday night he went to the glen he had appeared in, all ready to jump back on through and . . .nothing. There was nothing there. Not on the ground, not in the sky, not dangling anywhere, Alyan didn't see anything.

He may not have known exactly what to look for, but it shouldn't have been that hard to find a portal! That night was spent with a whole lot of picking and prodding at anything he thought that might be a portal. He found a few snakes, a couple of night critters, and even accidentally poked into a sleeping hive of bees, but he found no portal.

He would not be discouraged! The full moon lasted for three days, surely he'd have better luck tomorrow....

Saturday Night

Round two of 'Find the Portal that Leads to Home', and this go 'round wasn't ending up any better. The elf still didn't see anything anywhere so, for that night, he spent the majority of it jumping around and snatching at globs of air, trying to see if he could catch something. He even gave himself a running start from atop of a hill cropping. Ran as fast as he could, jumped off, and failed about wildly in the air to see if he could catch 'something'.

Didn't work. In the end the elf only managed to fall down on the ground, rolling in a ball and thankful that he didn't break or twist anything. Like his wrist. Though there'd be no more jumping for him that night as he did bruise up his hips and legs and by Eru did it smart! He did manage to hobble over to the waterfall that wasn't too far away and soak there for a good portion of the night before calling it.

One more day! He could stay confident right? He had heard the saying 'third times the charm' and hoped that it wasn't only a catch of phrase.

Sunday Night

On the last night this elf wasn't as full of vigor and go-go as he had been the previous two nights, turns out that what he thought was a mere simple brushing to his legs was making itself to be a bigger pain!

This time he arrived at the glen with a pouch of magic dust that he had brought from a vendor in the Marketplace. They assured him that it would reveal any hidden magical items and he was sold! Didn't cost him that much - the elf only had a bit of currency on him anyway but traded in the rest for labor - and he was happy with what he had. So, pouch opened, when he arrived at the glen and it was a dark enough hour, Alyan started chucking fistfuls of the dust into the air!

Toss here, spray there, dance in a circle pattern while letting the magical dust fall like rain, all of it really didn't do anything but make the glen look pretty in the moonlight. It did make him sneeze a bit... If he had known better he would have known that he ahd been tricked out of his money and hard work for a pouch of scented multi-colored glitter. Poor Alyan, frolicking around in the glen tossing around scented glitter.

None of it made sense to him. Why wouldn't the portal be where it had dropped him off at? Armandeus didn't say anything about it being a moving portal - even if he had never asked that question, he assumed it stationary. It should have been there!

So.. as that night came to an end, needless to say that the elf wasn't feeling as delighted as the glen looked with it's makeover.

Monday Night

Why was he back in the glen? He actually wasn't quite sure, but there he was. This night he wasn't going to do any crazy stunts, no jumping around, running off hillsides, or sprinkling glitter. The full moon was over and Alyan was set on simply laying there, on the ground, where he could look up clearly at the moon.

Hands behind his head and legs crossed he let out a dramatic sounding sigh. "I didn't make it back this time, but there's always next month. Ask my brother about this portal business and head on the up and out of here. Yeah. Yeah that's what I'll do." Speaking out confidently into the sky even if his voice sounded lazy. He was an elf, he had no qualms about sleeping outside.

"So, next month. Sure. Next month I'll have better luck."
